From what I know, though there is no warning before the actual removal, there are ways to know what blogs are being chosen. If you're on Blogger and you've ever gotten more than one of those please remove DMCA emails in the past (even if you've long ago complied and removed the content), just being on file for having two or more complaints against you from a major label, like Stones Throw, makes you a potential target.

Their arbitrary rules could change at any time of course but for now it looks like they are trying to appear like they are cracking down in order to make some of the larger labels happy.

Which means that everybody should be even more extra careful about posting any recent major releases and especially pre-releases on their blogs. And even if you don't post full albums from big name groups, backing up content regularly ensures you still have everything, rather than it all ending up being lost and / or deleted forever.

^ That's right. Verge did a good job of plugging my blog (ha!), but I'll do it one more time:

http://hiphopisread.blogspot.com/2010/0 ... -your.html

I suggest that all my fellow Blogspot users create a separate Google account with a new blog, the sole purpose being to back up all those posts!

This week, the RIAA and google started a campaign of letting record labels
lawyer "robots" shut down a bunch of blogs.

:ohsh:
This is just insanity. I mean, I can understand them wanting to stop the blogs that post all the newer shit, but blogs that are purely dedicated to posting obscure out-of-print vinyl releases that no-one could legally buy unless they happen to find the shit in some second-hand record store's bargain bin, or pay hundreds of dollars buying it from some Swedish dude off ebay?

How the fuck can they make money from that anyway? This is just serious overkill on the part of the record companies... They probably spending far more on lawyers and shit to shut these blogs down than they would ever make from these releases anyway. I mean, WTF??

I agree completely. They took down our Cypress Hill demos. It makes no
sense at all. Cypress is a friend of the blog and had nothing to do with it.
And they're friggin almost 20 yr old demos, for christs sake.

You finally now will understand why a looooot of users including me share ONLY SNIPPETS. And these guys who take off the stuff from blogs/youtube/forums are right, and i highly support them. MP3`s kill the Industry - 100 % is that.
Good Luck!

hahahah which Industry man - MP3 industry ? Hahah you are so funny.Don`t think and a lot of guys will agree with me that SELLING VINYLS kill VINYLS Industry.
Is something wrong here? Did i sell MP3`s (don`t want to mentioned that some people offered me to buy a RIP from me - WHAT THE FUCK is going on with them? I`m buying vinyls, i`m selling vinyls. People like to buy vinyls and people buy vinyls. I don`t see your problem here. Just download mp3`s if that is ok for you.
I just wanted to say that this should have happened before.

P.S. If you want to say something to me just use Private Message - PLEASE.
