This was upped in the most recent weekly request thread.I just got around to listening to this album front to back and I didn't have to skip anything.Figured it deserved it's own thread.I had 'Implosion' on a Dj Eli Night Train tape from 97 or 98,incredible joint.
At the time,I thought it was Siah or Yeshua, but I guess not.Was everything on this recorded years before it's release?Any info would be appreciated. And thanks to thebigk, thun, and Jaz for puttin' me on to this shit.

Definitely one of my favorite albums, I've been trying to spread this around in other...less sophisticated circles. I considered it my favorite release of the century until discogs told me it was originally released in '98. And that news about Last 2 Serve being poor was quite detrimental to my being. Apparently he was also part of these two groups: Double Life, Dreamweavers. Never heard anything from them personally, please up if you have anything (even if it sucks). And if anyone has Last 2 Serve up it, maybe I'll find some redeeming qualities. And DJ Zeph, the guy kills Imaginarium; anyone know anything else about the guy?

this seems like a great time to post a '98 track and a post-2000 track.

'98 03 insight.mp3 - 4.74MB

post-2000 10 time.mp3 - 4.21MB

and thanks for this jawn -

Damnit! You're crazy Ho1o, thank you very much. (I'll be hearing these shortly, but what is your analysis? You have 'em, does that mean you find them decent?)

I always though that Last2 Serve was a really dope tape. I talked to Gennessee a while back and they are going to release the two full length Double Life albums out the vaults soon

I thoroughly enjoyed Imaginarium. The production was amazing and I love how DJ Zeph laced the beats with oldschool aesthetics. L'Roneous is a dope thinking mc I've grown to appreciate. I grabbed Dreamweavers & Last 2 Serve after recently hearing Double Life - Cycles of the Mind off a compilation. That's when I realized L'Roneous did other projects. Last 2 Serve is on some live band upbeat jazzy steez. They seem to be having a lot of fun talking a bunch of nonsense on the mic. (Not really my cup of tea anymore.) I briefly skimmed through Dreamweavers, and feel it doesn't seem up to par as Imaginarium - particularly Elusive's production, it's missing those dope sample hooks and scratching segments. I have to give it a thorough listen before I say more.

Pretty much everything L*Roneous has done without DJ Zeph has been trash, unfortunately.

Imaginarium was my 2nd favorite album from 2000... classic.

The one thing I was thinking the whole time I was listening though is that he sounds a little too similar to Aceyalone. Same type of flow, same type of painstakingly layered lyrics... they even have similar voices

EDIT: lol, just noticed I said 2000 instead of 2002... my bad

The Dreamweavers shit is actually dope (imo)... I actually like the production on it and L'Roneous kills it every time. You should mos def give it another listen

Very underrated MC. Imaginarium and Dreamweavers are his best work.

Almost forgot about L*Roneous. Him and Pep Love for some reason seemed similiar as far their approach to music, IMO. Thanx.....haven't heard this name in years.

It was originally released in 1998, I can sort of see your comparisons to Acey, but L was better if you ask me, I am a huge fan of the Imaginarium album, it's one of my all time fave albums.

L*Roneous really stepped up his flow for Dreamweavers but the beats are terrible for the most part.

He should work with someone like Count Bass D. That would be dope.

His flow is always on point (in what I've heard thus far) and I understand the draw of the Dreamweavers beats, but that stuff definitely on that T.R.O.Y. ('90s East Coast biased which I share) level. He would be great with Count Bass D and he would still be able to play that funky jazzy vibe. I also think he could work well with Marco Polo, it would be different, but I think if they tried they could make some pretty dope stuff that would have a different end result from anything either have done to date.

And as long as we're on this semi-modern tip, I think Sub-Conscious (whos I think still has a nice flow and some good lyrics) should get in on that as well...DJ Eli is not what he used to be on the boards.

Kimani, has Eli done anything since the Bezerkowitz single?

He produced all of SubTalk in 2006 (and Lyric Luverz Deluxe: The Deep Dish Thesis in '02) for Sub-Conscious

I don't think its better than All Balls Don't Bounce or A Book Of Human Language but it's a great album nonetheless...

And I didn't really mean that he sounded THAT similar to Acey, I just meant it in the same way that people do when they talk about the guy from The BUMS that sounds similar to AZ... at moments, I could've sworn it was Acey vocals that had been pasted into his verses lol

After discovering his new EP on the TROY blog, I've been listening to lots of older L*Roneous stuff lately. Unlike others, I think his 2nd solo album is solid from beginning to end, too.

How do you feel about "Purposely Powerful"?

For those that don't know about his 2004 longplayer, I freshly upped it here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=13JXOUI2
