These two links pretty much contain all the freestyles I have put up on the Time Travel radio in the past 12 weeks (no demos, just freestyles):

http://www.sendspace.com/file/g5nx5m

http://www.sendspace.com/file/9mugpn

I did those in a hurry so didn't keep track of what is in which link. It just a whole lotta freestyle rapping from; juice, rhymefest, captail d, judgemental, mele mel, king just, o type star, TSP, Percee P, Percee P, Stony Island, Griffen, Dirty MF, SLug, Qualoheem, Mudkids, Grav, Kwest, Vakill, AZ, Ruberoom, Spelany's, Grass Is, Jus Us, Prime, AMC, Dilated Peoples, WC & Crazy Toones, AKbar, Jihad Malik, Special Ed, Matlock, Mr Greenweedz, EC, Cayex, etc...

Oh yeah, I think I included all the time travel promos to so exclusive from Mr Complex, Ab Rude, Mighty Bloodfang, Jackboy & Ajax, Molemen & Fuse, White Collar Criminals, Great Deity Dah, etc....

feel free to use, repost, or whatever but if you could please plug "Time Travel" and the myspace: www.myspace.com/timetravelradio

thanx!

Rhyme-Warriors Ink Demo '95 (Chicago)

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ebrkl2

I posted up one of these tracks on my time travel page last week and figured I'd share the whole demo here. This is one I had been wanting to hear again for a long time but several years ago the tape snagged and got all mangled. Last week I took it apart and spent a good hour or more re-spooling (is that the "un-word" i'm looking for?) and trying to flatten out the creases and wrinkles as best possible. It was so bad I eventually had to cut the tape and carefully splice it back to gather with a thin amount of tape so only a "milisecond" of sound was lost...ha. Ah the great lengths we go to in order to persevere a rarity....ha

here's the blog that I wrote about him:

Rhyme-Warriorג€™s Ink: I first heard Rhyme at some sort of industry panel discussion in Chicago. Some local talent agency or something had flew in some various industry insiders to drop knowledge and give local artists feedback. The only person I remember on the panel was Daddy O (Stetsasonic). At the end of the discussion they played a demo from a few different local artists in the crowd and critiqued it (sort of a pre-cursor to American Idol I suppose...). They were all unknown groups far as I remember. I remember this one girl group who sounded real bubble gum and not so good and the panelists were trying to sugar coat their responses and Daddy O had to interrupt and just be like, ג€œIג€m sorry; I have to be real. You guys suck. You should find another career instead of rapג€....or something really close to that...ha. In my mind I was like, ג€˜Damn, donג€™t keep it too real. You putting fools in tears hereג€...ha. I mean I guess people really need that because if they really feel they got the talent theyג€™ll keep with it regardless I suppose. Anyway, Rhyme was the only tape played that day that was a stand out in a good way. I remember his voice was reminiscent of King T and that caught my attention. However, he was on his own thing with his style and approach. He was representing from the West side which I always viewed as a combination of the North Side (more East Coast Hip Hop feel) and the South Side (more West Coast Vibe). It was that Hard edged Hip Hop with a street feel but kept it real lyrical also. I connected with him after the panel to get his demo and I gave him a good amount of radio spins and tried to spread the word.. I donג€™t know what happened to him. I only talked to him maybe one or two times after that day. The demo had two other tracks, ג€œBewareג€ and ג€œDonג€™t Play Wit Emג€, but ג€œWarriorג€™s Inkג€ always stood out cause it has the ג€œanthemג€ feel to it. However, the other joints, particularly "Beware" are certainly worthy of a listen.

Jesus Christ :ohsh:

I just converted all of those "History Of Chicago" tapes to CD. Thank god that I don't have to worry about any of 'em getting mangled from here on out.

here's a few new joints;

Boogie Down Productions-Live At The "My Philosophy" video release
Not sure if this is out there but I taped it off the radio in Chicago back
in '87/'88. They were calling it "Philosophy Night" to promote the
upcoming 12" and video. D nice is on the wheels. The set is:
1)Up To Date
2)Stop The Violence
3)Dope Beat
4)Still #1

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ge9r0u

Epicentral-I'm pretty sure this is unreleased. They are a crew that did this whole EP with JEL on production. It's pretty ill. I'm also pretty sure it got most if not all it's play on Time Travel. I actually have the ADATS for these tracks because they felt they would be safe with me...and so far that's true...ha. I'm not sure what happened to them or why this didn't come out officially. Includes tape scan for song titles and sequence

http://www.sendspace.com/file/yuhugg

Earatik Statik-Enta Da 3rd Rail

http://www.sendspace.com/file/tyr25q

track listing:
1)American Defector
2)Child Malesta
3)Exposed
4)Juiceless
5)Get Fucked Up
6)Poetic Justice
7)Underground Railroad

here's what I wrote about them on the time travel blog:
Earatik Statik have been rocking it for a long time in Chicago (Rogers Park). I first connected with them in the first year(s) of Time Travel which is when this track came out. This is from a double-cassette released they did called ג€œEnta The Third Railג€ with 7 cuts. This track addresses a lil beef they had with Juice at the time. I canג€™t remember all the details but Iג€™m pretty sure it has something to do with the fact they also referred to themselves as ג€œThe Third Railג€ (plus itג€™s the name of the Release) and thatג€™s something that Juice used to refer to himself as also. I think Juice made some comments about it during a freestyle at one of his shows and/or maybe from the crowd at one of their shows (because they make a reference to ג€˜someoneג€™ trying to sabotage one of their stage shows). Earatik Statik responded not only with some shots in ג€œExposedג€, but also got a cut on the same release called ג€œJuicelessג€. On ג€œExposedג€ they drop jewels like ג€œthey walking around town talking this and all that about how they freestyle so dope and their demos so fatג€ and I assume the ג€œlying about where the f**k they fromג€ line is a reference to Juice growing up in LA (although he says he was born in Chicago but left young and came back as a teen). ג€œJuicelessג€ get more direct to the point and is an all out diss song.

Anyway, diss songs arenג€™t a focal point of their career at all. They have a gift for writing thought provoking tracks and ill stories. Plus theyג€™ve work with an amazing cast of artist. Their new album, ג€œThe Good, The Bad & The Uglyג€ drops on March 17th and features Sadat X, Sean Price, ED O.G., S.P.O, Production from Pete Rock and so on... The also will be hitting the road for a tour around the same time and their live stage show has long been one of their key assets so check them out if they come thru your way. These are real good dudes and I still build with them on the semi-regular and Iג€™m glad they are still doing their thing and making quality music.

I'm sure that Jaz will be very happy to see the Epicentral rip. I know that he really enjoyed their "Philosophy Or Fallacy" track.

Ahh, so the proper title for "Philosophy Or Fallacy" is "Compare & Contrast". I remember converting it from a mixtape titled "The SX File: The Cover Up".

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Sandman and his brother Dirtman are/were from Uptown (you can frequently hear from them or MCs spitting over their beats that they rep 118, 119 and 120), they (or at least Dirtman) made beats and also had/hosted freestyle sessions in the mid to late nineties ('95 - '97). And Sandman: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Sandman+(9) started a label in '97 called AmaZing Records: http://www.discogs.com/label/Amazing+Records

Crates of A.G. seems to be the place to get most of the known/surfaced Sandman & Dirtman material.
