Chapter III EP-Sound Of Claps [Guru], Butter Hit, Ruff N Tuff, Darkman

Don't know much about this. I got the promo tape given to me while at NMS '94. The first cut is produced by Guru and they name drop him again somewhere on there so there's "some" affiliation.

Nah, on the real though, it's a cool EP. Of course checked out Sounds Of Claps immediately to experience some more Guru work.

organized konfusion-stretch armstrong freestyle (oct '90):

That OK is one of the first Stretch Armstrong shows and the power goes out for a second during the the freestyle. Bobbito once stated that they assumed it was an overload from the high-powered rhymes..."

Troubleneck rarities: I did promotional work for Step Sun back in the day (shout Neil and G-man!). They were a cool label, too bad they couldn't maintain. I remember I was in New York the day they got the final cut of the "Troubleneck Wreck" video so I got to see it first with the label people...and later the group came thru too.

They did a couple sampler for the album. The most famous one has been around the web and is the "Release Me" EP. This sampler here is before that and it has the last couple tracks before they switched their music to be more "west coast vibe". I did a web and blog search for these two and came up with nothing so I don't think they are out there: "Circle Of Stone" and "Hectic". I included "Pure" (b-side to "Back To The Hip Hop") because it's ill and you might need that!

This is something given to me Bobbito while dubbing tapes at his crib. It's a ill live show.

Some Chicago joints:

Definite Vacation 4 Suckas (Verbally Diseased): These were some ill cats. They would come down to my show semi-regularly. Rabeez was in a wheel chair, I only tell you that because it makes the song title, "Legless Be The Legacy" make sense. This is a tape they put out in '96, there is also a 12" but that doesn't thave the Sire Sensai solo, "One Shot, Two Shot". They had one other release that I know about that has the ill cut "Perfection".

http://www.sendspace.com/file/12p4ft

Vakill Destroyer X (The Boogieman): He's been on the Chicago scene since they '80s wrecking mics and he's still on his A game with a new album in the works. Here's two of his first official releases (tapes) with all production by The Molemen.

Kill & Massacre EP (includes a Chicago Rocks magazine demo review):

Who's Afraid EP '95: This is when I first heard him and man, I was blown away. He just has crazy flow and the illest lines!

Holy fucking shit, Kev.

I had no idea that Rabeez was in a wheelchair, but like you said, the song title doesn't make a lot of sense without that context. They made the tape available at Gramaphone around 98/99, so fortunately, I was a able to snatch it up.

Wow, this is even better than I expected it to be.

Aside from "Contortin", the highlights for me would be "Fly Urban Scenery" and "New Design".

Dundilykon had beats, god damn.

Thanks for uploading this.

I'll upload his demo in the next couple days. I've been meaning to do that. You should also check out the album he released in '06. It's pretty ill! He is on myspace and there's links to buy.

Naw, that is the only rarity on there according to the playlist. The rest is just the typical 12" stuff that was out around then (wu, smooth & trigger, jay z, group home, etc...)

Yeah, it is a shame they didn't do more stuff. They were ill and they both were some funny dudes. One of the guys, Steve Bravo is still doing things, making beats. He did some recent stuff for Grav (check Grav's myspace page).

Kev...you're the king. Straight up and down. The king. You deserve a spot in the as-of-yet-non-existent hip-hop hall of fame. And when it comes time for it, I will be lobbying for you to the end. Haha seriously. I have legendary stories about you that I'll include in my submission form.

If you have a moment please hit me up.

But mainly I just want to give you the props you deserve. Thanks for sharing this stuff.

One Shot, Two Shot is on the vinyl, but it's not listed. There's two versions of Blowin' Up The Spot on the A side and one on the B, the one on the B is actually One Shot, Two Shot.

Good lookin' on all this Chi stuff, some great joints.
