I was just about to post this either here or in the Dope Samples thread. Flying is the one Beatles track that definitely sounds like it should have been used to death! Where did you get the alt. version? Never heard that.
Godfather Don sampled this and Walrus (a twofer!) in Hellofasong, as cited by Blockhead. The only other joint I know that used it was a KISS Red Alert promo by the Violators in the early 90s, maybe you heard it. If it's neither of these, and it comes to you, add on.
That's the one - Hellofasong by Godfather Don. I've never heard the Violators Promo.
The alternate version of "Flying" came from the Silent Sea 2CD set "Magical Mystery Boy".
I guess producers are taking it back to MC Hammer era w/the wholesale 16-bar liftings of songs. I'm not even gonna bother w/current joints no more, keep it strictly TROY era (unless it's dope).
I thought The Grey Album was heavier on concept, good but overrated production. It sounds more like what I think a "mashup" is, rather than a remix. Kind of thrown together, rather than crafted.

Yeah, I agree with that... But this shit sounds like what Wu-Tang would have sounded like if RZA only had Beatles records to sample from. I'm really diggin' it.
Bassmint Productions - Lord Have Mercy Sampled Come Together I believe.
This is the group Eminem was in, in the early 90's
It's a demo though so it doesn't have a high quality version.
there's a track on that pep luv & jay biz unreleased 'The Shamen' album that clearly samples the intro of Strawberry Fields. don't know about track titles on that album but it's pretty obvious when you hear it.

Good ear, vaporized- Track 2 Rughead is the joint. And thanks Jaz for the upload. Don't know how I could have missed it.
Thanks, Bleach for the Bassmint demo
Damn, with all of these comin out the woodwork, I'm thinking there must be at least a few more out there...
ah Rughead, never knew what that tune was called, thanks

I've never really listened to the beastie boys, but "The End" and "When I'm Sixty-Four" are sampled in that song as well. The beastie boys stock went up a little bit right here for me.
A quick wiki check says they sampled "Back in the USSR" as well (initial airplane noise) - shoulda caught that. also The Sgt Pepper reprise, around 1:20.
this hasn't been mentioned in this thread and maybe should be... The Beastles. Beastie Boys vs. Beatles mash ups. done by DJ BC. these are suprisingly good imo, way better than the dangermouse/JayZ album. download both albums here: http://pearltubes.blogspot.com/2009/07/beastles.html

Another one? An industry in itself. I liked the Beatles/Wu Tang mashups better than the Dangermouse too. (Thanks to Hobus Maguire for the link) I'll check this out.

The second half of the song samples the outro to Magical Mystery Tour, and nicely too but for the fact that I can barely stomach Dose One's steez. But thanx for pointing it out.
Naughty by Nature were probably the 1st and Tom Caruana recently used it for his Wu Tang mashups, but I'm thinking there's gotta be another one, maybe mid to late 90s?
WuTang insisted at first that they were gonna be the 1st to get official clearance from the Beatles estate to use one of their songs (Gently Weeps) but then admitted that it was only the Jimmy Ponder cover (plus George Harrison's son to do overdubs to make it official I guess). This was posted by Verge earlier.
But you're right, it's one of my faves too, in any form. De La sampled the cover in I Am I Be @ 2:38 and 3:28. Dangermouse used the original "illegally" here
Rodan of the Monsta Island Czars sampled Come Together on a song called No Degrees from his album called Theophany: The Book of Elevations. Real dope track. I believe X-Ray of Monsta Island Czars produced this song, as well as the whole album, but I'm not 100% sure about that.
I also remember an old Jigmastas track sampling John Lennon's line "I'd love to turn you on" from the song A Day in the Life. I'm not totally sure which Jigmastas song this is though, I think it was either from one of their early vinyls or maybe an intro/interlude from the Infectous EP

Not the Beatles, must be a cover or even redone in the studio. But it's a nice joint nonetheless.
If you id the Jigmastas joint with the Lennon sample and can upload it, that'd be great.

Save this for a Paul thread
He definitely was the most sampled of the solo Beatles, or maybe the only sampled one. I don't know of any rap songs that sample John, George or Ringo but they must be out there.

Here are the 2 songs zipped up together. The Jigmastas joint is called Dead Man's Walk.
I believe the Rodan song is definitely sampled from the original Beatles song, Come Together, albeit sped up. Listen to it closely, it's the first lick of the song, you can even hear Ringo's tom roll at the end of the loop.

Ah! I was so easy to dismiss, but I'll be the first to say I was dead wrong. I guess my ears zipped past the intro, but it's to X-Ray's credit that he rendered the sample (nearly) unrecognizable. You have more discerning Beatle ears than me, UBS.
I never heard that Jigs joint, that is sooooo.... thanks for both of these, they easily go in the collection.
...And I think that should do it. I will now gather everything together and make some kind of a near-comprehensive list. This yielded way more than I expected!

I know of two tracks that sample this:
A remix of Just To Get By by Talib Kweli on this mixtape http://www.datpiff.com/KidWIK_Dead_Perez.m3898.html
and a track called You Know My Name on H.W.'s album from last year, "A Years Worth of Worry"
What's the name of the Naughty track again?
