Not too familiar with Chuck Brown's catalog, and thought I would check some out, after he passed recently.

Can anyone provide some links to some of his best material?

Thanks

^If it's the same Chuck Brown, all I'm familiar with is his work with the Soul Searchers, which there's probably links to earlier in this thread, which are probably dead. If you need the first two SS LP's, I'll try to put up links sometime this weekend.

I picked this up for a dollar- it's umiliani-esque but definitely more similar to the girl from ipanema. Recommended for sure.

thanks to fatboybrandon for posting about this ebay seller's store, shit is CRAZY. All funk, psyche, jazz, breaks and samples, and just ill shit all from Russia and the surrounding former Soviet countries. Of course you're always gonna hear a little bit of really bad kitschy shit but there's guaranteed gold in these crates.

i was wondering if Verge or any of you other cats on hear happend to have a link to "Earl Moseley"- facing the sun LP. Its a rare album out of Houston, heard some of the tracks on Youtube and its quite funky fresh to say da least. I remember seeing this in a record store once and have been kickin myself for not coppin it lol. its outta of print so the chances of buying at a decent price is obviously out of the picture
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m-0hOHqTh4

btw i was gonna post this in the request section but i find this thread more fitting since, the request board is hip-hop orientated.

I've been mellowing out to this album lately at home, turn this on and hopefully it provides some escapism. It starts off with some calm, Library/Jazz-fusion grooves then gets darker toward the middle.

Look like there's another Mr. Tibbs on the scene who digs. Check his blog out, he's got some ill records from Finland and elsewhere:

Lauth Quartet - S/T (Fonit Cetra)

Ultra rare and nearly unknown Italian only library lp released in 1978!!
Incredible lost session by the German pianist Wolfgang Lauth and his quartet.
They used vibes, fender rhodes, acoustic piano, flute, electric bass, electric guitar, and drums to deliver some magnificent deep modal jazz and jazz funk tracks. Solid lp from the beginning to the end.

To Boothe, here is a Marva tribute show I found from one of my favorite podcasts. They play a lot of rare grooves and have interviews with Funk, Jazz and Soul legends like Marva, RAMP, Mandrill and Sir Joe Quarterman.

Ensemble Petit and Screen Land Orchestra Action Theme
Amazing cover versions of popular action film themes and soundtrack tracks.
"Theme from 3 Days of Condor"
"Dirty Harry"
"Tubular Bells (Exorcist)"
...basically a bunch of hard versions of classic soundtrack stuff... seriously not to be missed.
