thanks to fatboybrandon for posting about this ebay seller's store, shit is CRAZY. All funk, psyche, jazz, breaks and samples, and just ill shit all from Russia and the surrounding former Soviet countries. Of course you're always gonna hear a little bit of really bad kitschy shit but there's guaranteed gold in these crates.
Downloadable snippets for the auctions, download there or here:

man some of this stuff is mind-blowing... I wish I had been up on this board earlier to catch some of those records at auction. Verge, do you know any of the background on any of these records? I think I'd pay even for digital copies of this stuff.

Yo, I have absolutely nothing on any of these records and I think some of these i would also actually pay for rips of. Some really incredible stuff there and likely not to see a lot of it very often.

Yeah the mystery of it just adds to my level of interest... I'm gonna try reaching out to the guy and see if he kept rips of anything. This has actually got me started on a Soviet music kick the past week - this is a great record - Alla Pugachova - Mirror of the Soul

Yo I think we're gonna bring the beat battles back to sound lab. If anyone is interested in helping with good samples to provide, let me know. Also, vote to bring back the beat battles.

holy shit Ala Pugacheva is the pop music of my parents youth

She was a huge pop star in the old country, starting from I think the 70s if not earlier. no idea if she's still alive but she was def still going hard in the 90s

so insane and random to see this pop up here

they are still around and they would probably get a huge kick with a healthy side-dose of WTF if they knew I was downloading this

^hahaa, no doubt. it's kinda tough explaining what you're looking for to older people who have no idea what a break or amazing sample is.

depositfiles is the rocky balboa of this filehost shit nowadays. Most of the time when old links are turning up deleted all over google, the depositfiles ones are the only ones left standing.
I just found a 3 part link to the Grant shit, here:

Yeah Alla Pugacheva was huge in the USSR - she's still alive and involved in music. She's actually a judge on Russia's version of "X-Factor." Damn, I'd love to take a look in your parents' old record crates...

Check out the funky theme music of Alex Puddu, he's a modern day composer but does music that sounds just like the records of the 70's on his latest projects "Black Orgasmo EP" and "The Golden Age of Danish Pornography".

Yes its me. We don't have the demo tape, been trying to get it for YEARS. If you have any way of finding a copy I WILL PAY YOU!!

When I first found this I thought it was a bootleg LP. But according to the insert inside, the band members from this album left before the album could be completed. The label was pretty impressed with the few songs they did manage to record, so they decided to release them anyway.

The band Noir was a British based psychedelic/funk/jazzrock band, although they originally probably come from the West-Indies. You could compare their sound to Demon Fuzz.

Another Soviet era joint - this one is somewhat of a collector grail (I don't have it on vinyl unfortunately)...
Grupa ABC Andrzeja Nebeskiego Grupa ABC Andrzeja Nebeskiego (Pronit 1970)

http://www.mediafire.com/?xnx23hr0wcuyr0b

Some amazing stuff on here - breaks, basslines, funk, soul, psychedelic - it's kind of all over the place, but an amazing listen and solid LP. It definitely holds up against a lot of records from their Western contemporaries...
