This sounds really cool.

Wish we had the net back in those days. Imagine how much of this "marked to be destroyed" shit would be around if we did?

Very dope.

Why people would destroy tapes is beyond me.

Great find Mike, can't wait to hear this.

Mike (or anyone else!), do you know anything about this LL track or have a better quality copy?

I think its called 'Year Of the Hip Hop'. I heard it around the time 'Mr Smith' was about to drop.

DOUBLE L COOLS DOWN LP

was released on the dl shortly around the time MR Smith dropped

it contains the following
A1. Intro (Mr. Smith's Party) (1:10)
A2. Mr. Smith (4:15)
A3. Dear Lover (3:55)
A4. Pump My Shit (2:55)
A5. Soliloquy (0:55)
A6. Candyman (4:15)

B1. Set It Off New York (5:05)
B2. New York Mentality (4:39)
B3. 2 Min. Warning To Shake That Ass (1:22)
B4. Bring On The Mo's & Ho's (3:27)
B5. Forever Yours (4:54)

* the original 1st pressing was in a plane black sleeve and has a multi colored sticker on it. Only reason i know about these being the 1st pressing was we carried it at Upstairs Records from the peeps who had pressed it up. Later on copies surfaced with the circular window jacket and no sticker

Step i dont believe i have ever heard that Year of the Hip Hop before

i never heard of that lp before, but i'd love to hear that shit if you or anyone else has a link?

and that "bring on the mo's and ho's" cut used to be my shit. i always thought it was called "For My Intro" though...

Here's the uncensored version of No Airplay.

This does exist on vinyl, but it's pretty hard to find.

Aiight, fuck it, if you don't wanna waste your time reading a stupid story, skip this-
First time I heard the og dirty "No Airplay"-
I'm on my home from a long day and I just picked up a pack of MAxell
cassettes to tape the Bobbito show.
It's probably about 12:30 or quarter to one. Show starts at 1AM.
Not much time, but I'll make it, I'm right around the corner.
Think I had my grandpops car underage without permission. I don't
completely remember that part of it. I may have been of age, what was this 94?

I got 2 of my boys in the car and roll up to the corner where we all always were.
One of my other boys brother runs up to the car yelling,"Yo, you gotta go get my brother!
He's down in the County Cop station and been there all day.
They said if nobody comes to get 'em, they're sending him to the county like any minute."

He got caught, just like I did plenty of times before, stealing paint markers from Toys R Us. :retard:
So I says fuck it, get in. We roll around the way looking for one of the
older cats we knew who would go and get him out.
We found him pretty quick and headed down Duncan towards the precinct
below RT 440, that's not there anymore. Shit, the county cops aren't there
anymore, period.

So, now it's like 1:10AM, I'm sitting in front of the precinct, Bobbito's
playin joints. I mean this was a good night, I don't think Stretch was there.
Needless to say, "No Airplay" comes on and we're buggin! Especially me, I was heated, I shoulda been taping.
Eventually my boy came walking out the precinct with a big stupid smile on his face.
I really wanted to just punch the shit out of 'em, but he was one of those
kids that you just couldn't really stay mad at at all.

I got the song a few years later from one of my boys who used to tape,
too. But lost that, too.

So, yeah man, thanks for this.

These joints are disgusting. :ohsh:

That "New York Mentality" cut has one of the fattest horn loops I've heard in a long long time.

Really fiending to hear this album.
