Two classic and essential DITC albums, but which one was better?

Both incredible albums, but 'Stunts, Blunts & Hip Hop' has the edge for me - I rate it up there as one of the top 3 Hip Hop albums of all time, for me.

runaway slave is so overrated...its just an ok album imo...stunts is so much better on every possible level and is on the short list of best produced albums of all time

the exact opposite of this comment , lol

SB+HH has a few standouts, rarely listen all the way thru. Runaway Slave is classic back to front (IMO)

Gotta go with SB & HH. Definitely a more complete album than Runaway Slave.

It's better produced and although Runaway Slave is better lyrically, it's not like Diamond was any slouch on the mic. Plus there's a Brand Nubian guest spot.

Not only are they two classic Diggin' in the Crates debut albums from '92, but they were also first released on the very same day. September 22nd, 1992.

Diamond D's What U Heard video marked Big L's first time appearing in a music video, back in '93.

And years ago, KRS-One said to A.G. that Runaway Slave was one of his favorite albums.

These two albums are definitely back to back on my list of favorite albums, despite their differences the overall quality always struck me as remarkably similar. Gonna vote Runaway Slave cause I'm in a funky mood.

I was always a "Stunts, Blunts & HH" man.....

both joints is timeless and helped cement DITC as one of the greatest crews eva, but I just always ran "Sb & HH" back way more than "runaway slave", can't really say why...

Runaway Slave is quite possibly the least pretentious, least affected, and thus most successful "concept" rap album.

It is the first rap album to make a serious attempt to analyze ghetto life in a non-glamorizing, non-politicizing, non-judgmental manner.

It is a seriously underrated album. Fuck what you heard.

word... definitely notice this in lyrics to tracks like'He Say She Say', and the title cut amongst others. even so, it doesn't seem like a conscious attempt at a 'concept' album to me, more like that's how it turned out...no big deal either way, really. classic album. (it could possibly do without 'Party Groove'. bit cheesy, and god knows why the instrumental to that tune is included as a bonus, out of all the tracks)

Yeah - when I want to listen to something raw, 'Runaway Slave' is a perfect album. That said, 'Stunts, Blunts, and Hip Hop' gets played to a lot more.
