In the "dope samples" thread, I posted the sitar sample for Hiero's "Oakland Blackouts".
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/sh ... on=8,0,0,0" width="335" height="28" id="divplaylist"><param name="movie" value="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=8040363-ed7" /><embed src="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=8040363-ed7" width="335" height="28" name="divplaylist" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... d></object>
<object width="320" height="265"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JpfONEbJMcg&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JpfONEbJMcg&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="320" height="265"></embed></object>
Here's a few more sitar sampled cuts that were mentioned-

East Flatbush Project - Tried By 12
<object width="320" height="265"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yXBckFyiMyU&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yXBckFyiMyU&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="320" height="265"></embed></object>

Indelible MC's - Fire In Which You Burn
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/sh ... on=8,0,0,0" width="335" height="28" id="divplaylist"><param name="movie" value="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=8161983-93f" /><embed src="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=8161983-93f" width="335" height="28" name="divplaylist" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... d></object>

Here's a couple more I just thought of-
Guru - Destiny Is Calling(this is a radio rip from the show I co
hosted, if anyone has the VLS, that would be cool...)
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/sh ... on=8,0,0,0" width="335" height="28" id="divplaylist"><param name="movie" value="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=7702945-fb7" /><embed src="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=7702945-fb7" width="335" height="28" name="divplaylist" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... d></object>

Jax (RIP, from Binkis) - 16 Candles (a few other people used
this sample, even recently, something with Breez Brewin)
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/sh ... on=8,0,0,0" width="335" height="28" id="divplaylist"><param name="movie" value="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=8161920-6d9" /><embed src="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=8161920-6d9" width="335" height="28" name="divplaylist" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... d></object>

There's more good ones.
List them.

There's a CNN affiliated one that was pretty popular when it dropped and I
can hear the beat in my head, but can't think of what the hell it was(not Superthug)..

Been trying to find this tune for years and years. Had no idea what it was called, just the sitar and Guru on it. Thanks for identifying it.

there's a very short sitar loop used in ATCQ Bonita Applebum that's also used in Fugees version of Killing Me Softly. dunno what it's originally sampled off but I'm sure you know the one I'm referring to. a little 6 note sitar riff

thank you, i couldn't remember what that instrument is called but i'm also pretty sure it's not a sitar

the original song is Sakura by Odetta, it has a very japanese sound which figures as it comes from Odetta In Japan. I can't find more than a tiny snippet of the song though to back this up

As long as it's close, and this is, I think.
