These files are in Sony's ATRAC3 format. There appears to be several ways to read/convert these files. One is to use a program like SonicStage to burn them to a CD. Then, use whatever program you like to rip the audio off the CD and convert to whatever format suits. You should also be able to use the original Sony software with the Tools | Options | CD Recording | Select Format menu to convert to a .WAV CD format which can then be ripped.

OK, so I downloaded SonicStage, ripped the OMA tracks to a CD and was subsequently able to rip the CD back to my iTunes as mp4 files. Unfortunately, in the original RAR file, the two intro tracks have had their extensions changed - neither SonicStage nor iTunes will recognize them.

Csatalja, do you have those original tracks in the OMA format? If so, could you upload them?

At any rate, I will TRY to upload the freshly-converted Tight 18 (sans DJ Drez Intros 1 &2) when I get home tonight, if my internet connection isn't being all wonky.

I'll look after, but the RAR file I've uploaded contains the original tracks I think...

more Drez

Post by Psyclops1200 »

thanks for the warm welcome!

I know people were having trouble with the first two tracks to Tight 18. I was able to get track two to work. here's the link http://www.mediafire.com/?mnimizn4hox

I also have a .ram file of DJ Drez on Chocolate City http://www.mediafire.com/?uuzlmu1j03h

So all we need is track 01 of Tight 18, Daylight, and Flying Humanoid (with DJ Azzurro) which are all Japan releases.

Let me know if the links don't work so I can re-up!

Two new joints by Drez, who is also calling himself "Sound Ambassador" these days...no physical copies, but Amazon has both of these for 8$. Well worth the money.

not sure if this was posted earlier on in this thread, so i apologize if it has - but here's a partial discography of DJ Drez's. It's got about 30 of his albums posted, all via megaupload.

Yeah man, I'm unable to upload right now but that Underground Dirt Nap post Atlantis linked to is pretty thorough. All working Megaupload links (last I checked, anyway) and a good portion of them have .cue files in the zip, so you can split the big mp3s into single tracks.

I was able to go through a lot of these links and update my personal stash, pretty sure I now only have one tape that's a single mp3 and it's "Classic Riddims, Volume 2."

Check out Vesuveo's brand new album titled Shine at http://www.vesuveo.com

The first single off the album is Algiers Point featuring Evelyn Harris.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Lc8gUsx ... er&list=UL

If some of yall didnt know, Vesuvio was member of the legendary Cali based hip-hop crew The Anonymous/Moonshine along with DJ Drez, Zinndeadly and Able.

After more then 10 years hiatus he released his first solo album in March 2011, which has deserved the praise of Chuck D!

Give a listen to it!

Bumping this thread due to some newish albums, mixes, and remixes:

Image

Music: A Mix by DJ Drez

Another dope genre-bending mix for the fall of 2011, highly recommended.

Image

Moments of Clarity

Haven't really given this much of a listen (yet) but it looks very similar to Moon Bay Sessions, on the acid-jazz/vocal tip. Should be good.

Image

Dub Boutique EP (w/ Marti Nikko)

Pretty sure that this is what came out of the "Moon Bay 2" recording sessions that Drez was talking about a couple of years ago...Nikko is great. Awesome voice.

A few (free!) random remixes, both very dope:

Image

Narayana (Jayasree) (DJ Drez Remix)

Image

Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein Khayal Aata Hai (DJ Drez Remix)

Drez' Bandcamp page also has a handful of older mixes and albums (Chapters of EZ Sevn, Twilight Dub, Classic Riddims, etc) for sale, if what you're looking for is out of stock at Access Hip Hop...

This is also great news:
White Swan Records wrote:It's officially official: the new DJ Drez album, Jahta Beat: The Lotus Memoirs, is coming out soon on White Swan's new imprint, Black Swan. You're gonna love it. More details coming soon.
