I'm sure Stretch will share some more shows at some point when he gets time. He knows dudes like us celebrate his show and really appreciate them.
I think he's having server issues aside from being busy.

I just found the 6th anniversary show from October 24, 1996
(featuring King T, Buckshot & Steele, And Indelible MC's.
It's pause edited but better than nothing. Will be getting posted soon.

Oh, and for those curious, the first show date for the Stretch Armstrong Show was October 25, 1990. And the first record played on the air was an Ultramagnetic MC's record (I think MC's Ultra or Ego Trippin?)

Not to get off the KCR topic but do you happen to have a rip of a Mayhem show from '97 that featured Natural E where they played this snippet?

The tail end of that snippet is the beginning to Bust Mine.

Thanks Verge!
As far as posting CM Fam rips... hmmm.
Well, most people didn't stop taping or really consider the show as being over
just cause Stretch left. It was really just a name change. There wasn't any
drop in the quality, except for the obvious changes because of the general
decline in quality throughout the genre.

Anyway, definitely share them. We have soooo many old S&B threads,
though. Maybe use an old CM Fam thread?
Here's one that TBS listed in this thread:
http://www.philaflava.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=104350
^^Probably the best place to post them.
Or post them here if you want, just clearly label them as CM FAM.

Verge - good looks would appreciate that info

Aleph - I do have that tape, that was Cien Smooth playing demos that night, I have to root through my box for that one. I remember him talking all over it though if I'm not mistaken.

6th anniversary show is up

http://dirtywaters.blogspot.com/2010/02 ... -show.html

It's pause edited, but like I said, better than nothing right?

I remember they had a long discussion/interview with Dr. Dre and King T in the beginning of the show which I didn't tape, but I did catch a freestyle King T dropped and all of the freestyle sessions from that night.

Pete Rock - Strange Fruit
I recently was looking through some of my old Source Mags and came across a 1997 issue that featured Mekolicious in the 'Unsigned Hype' colum. The article states that Meko's demo tape featured the songs "Youth", "I Hope The World Don't Stop", "Verbal Murder" and "Strange Fruit" which featured Tragedy & Noreaga. I took this picture with my cell phone. I had always wondered how this guy looked and now here you go.

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i11/W ... edHype.jpg

I guess after nothing came of Mekolicious, Pete decided to use "Strange Fruit" for himeslf and change who was on it. Just like how Deda Baby Pa's album never came out so Sadat X took the song "Escape From New York" and put it on his album as if it was his own.

Thanks (once again) to both RELM and dirtywaters / Nes for the days and shows.

And to everybody wondering, CM Famalam tapes can go here if you want (people have already posted them here) but the mixtapes and radio shows sticky (or a thread devoted to CM Famalam) is probably a better bet (thereג€™s a bunch of them as well) and since Iג€™m / weג€™re only trying to begin to tackle ג€™90 through ג€™98 it feels like more to sift through right now.

Either way though, Iג€™m not opposed to keeping everything here, like Verge said, just make sure to state the year or that itג€™s CM Famalam and not a Stretch & Bobbito show ג€˜cause Iג€™m thinking itג€™s gonna be a giant enough project as it is already.

Two dates, one confirmed, one deduced:

May 6, 1993 w/Craig G, Freestyle Fellowship
The only tape I ever fuckin datemarked.

November 19, 1998 w/Rahsheed, Chief Kamachi, Defari
Bobbito mentions that they weren't on the air the following wk (Thanksgiving)

BTW, has anybody determined when the final show was? I seem to recall that this 11/19 show was the last or maybe next to last. The 1st CM show was December 17, 1998 w/Off Da Mental, so calculating backwards would indicate that there would been two more Thursdays before that (excluding Thanksgiving).

Both Craig and FF were at the height of their powers, so fans of both wonג€™t be disappointed. However, Fellowship fans will be disappointed, even outraged at the fact that somehow my pause crazed fingers took on a life of their own and fucked up not one, but two of PEACEג€™s verses. For that I deeply, humbly and sincerely apologize, not least to myself. I hope someday soon someone else will up the whole show and we will all be able to enjoy everything in all its restored glory. Until that timeג€¦

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X890MU7P

One interesting note. Stretch, as you will hear was away, leaving Bobbito to man the boards. Iג€™m not sure why, but there was no cutting between the 1 & 2s (either Bob didnג€™t know how, or only had one turntable that night). Youג€™ll hear how deftly Mikah 9 handles it. I swear, those cats can rhyme over static noise and still be incredible. Also, whoג€™s that Kool DJ in the back while Craig is rhyming?

Peace to dirtywaters and Roy Johnson just for being fellow fans
Incredible.

Very nice upgrade in quality over the freestyle tapes.

They used three classic Craig G segments from this session (among my favorite Craig G recordings, period):

#1 (0:26 to 1:54)
#2 (4:37 to 9:43)
#3 (10:05 to 14:20)

The last one ends with "The mic fell off so I'm gonna hold it in my hand..." It's great to hear the rest of that freestyle, plus the one at the end with the Dennis Coffey beat (15:52 to 17:40). Do you know where that instrumental came from? It's probably something obvious that I just ignored or overlooked (very similar to the Diamond D "No Wonduh" beat).

This will seriously go down as one of the best uploads of the year.

Phantasm killed that with what would become the verses on Wussda Plan . Craig killed it too, I would love a better quality as well!

The B-side starts with Das EFX and after Cam'ron there's some stuff not on the tracklisting (Rascalz Northern Touch, two more songs and finally a Mr Lif freestyle)

unable to read thru this whole thread right now to see if this comes up but I'm reading a old rappages now an in Bobbito's column he is taking about the early years of the show and he says NOv 3rd, 1990 is the 2nd Show and that "TKO and Serch came down and rhymed together. He also says later on the same show Kurious & AJ Damane freestyle together.

Also, the 3rd show is where X tra P wrote his "LIve at BBQ" verse in the lobby and kicked live on the show later w/Joe Fatal on Back up vocals. Same Night was Percee P's first night on the show.

Talks about April 2nd, 91: First time Organized Konfusion came down and rocked over "Bad To The Bone" remix and the station powered cut off while they were rocking... and he notes they said it was their first ever radio appearance....

that's part two of him talking about old shows. I have part one too but I left it at work I'll look at it tomorrow and post the info.

got it from Unkut. If I'm not mistaken this was neither on the Lost Stretch bootlegs nor on Percee's CD's Now And Then / Legendary Status

Craig G (and most of Phantasm) on WKCR 1995

http://www.mediafire.com/?uyzmlymgnum

Apologies to Cella Dwellas fans: one Phantasm verse was unrecorded. If I had known the 3rd "emcee" Sexorcist was straight bone, I would have recorded Phantasm's missing verse instead.

Sorry about that, Krisch. I don't know how that happened.
And thanks for the rips, everybody.

BTW, Ruffneck Bastards was Gauge, Phantasm and someone else.

Krisch, it is possible Stretch had those joints that early.
That was one of the great parts of taping. You would wind up hearing stuff
sometimes as much as a year before it ever hit commercial airwaves.
I can't be positive about that particular show, I'm just sayin it's possible.

Yeah, still waiting on Stretch to come through with at least a list.
I reminded him on fb last night. No response yet.
Skeptic wrote:Maybe it's time to put up a master list of dates on the blog and put links to all of the shows we have, that way we can see what is missing and publicise it to a bigger audience in the hope that there will be heads out there who have missing eps?

I'm happy to up shows to my rapidshare account to ensure they stay up.
Good idea. We will do this. When that's done, I'll do another TROY blog
piece on this.

I also have no problem using my megaupload to keep links alive, too.
serch4beatz wrote:the "problem" is that there are heads who have so much stuff but just want to trade mp3's for other stuff they want.. its kinda hard to get the lesser/non circulated shows
Yeah, I thought this but didn't want to say anything.
But yeah, someone showed up in this thread, who has mad shows
we need, but only will trade them for other shows he needs.
I can understand the logic, but not for nothing, I wouldn't roll like that.
I know it's easy to say, but if I still had all the shows that I had years ago,
every single one would have been on here by now. Hundreds.
When you roll like that, sure sometimes you get fucked over, but most
times that encourages others to do the same.
Eh..this will get completed and those who held back will regret it.
This project is being done not for anyone's personal gain, but
for the posterity of the greatest hip hop radio show of all time.
Well, sure we'll all gain from it, but you know what I mean. :)

New Stretch & Bob tape up on Dirty Waters:

Here's a Stretch Armstrong Show from January, 1996 with DJ Homicide filling in for Stretch and guest MC Bahamadia in the studio. Bahamadia was promoting the 'Uknowhowwedo' 12" and I think she was premiering the 'Three the Hard Way' track on this night. This was a few months before her Kollage LP was released.

Stretch & Bobbito 1-1996
(featuring DJ Homicide & Bahamadia)

1) Bahamadia - Three the Hard Way
2) Bahamadia - Interview/Freestyle
3) Busta Rhymes - Woo-ha
4) Big Noyd - Recognize N Realize
5) Blahzay Blahzay - Danger Pt 2
6) Ghostface Killah - Motherless Child
7) C4 (Total Pack?) - Demo
8) Wu-Tang - Winter Warz
9) Jay-Z - Can't Knock the Hustle
10) Fab 5 - Leflah
11) Eric Sermon & Redman
12) Chino XL- Deliver (track i.d by aleph)
13) Pitch Black - Hold it Down
14) DJ Homicide Vs Bobbito Vs Lord Sear DJ Battle

I noticed in Ego Trip Book of Rap Lists, Bobbito writes that Nas came up w/Akinyele and Lord Finesse on Valentines Day, 1991, which would be February 14.
Here is Nas' 2nd verse:

He went back and forth with AK. I have the whole thing on one of my HD's or on a data disc. Will find soon. His first verse was his from Live @ the BBQ.

And........ I don't have mp3, but this is the best we can hope for now.

Umm.. Chilllllls

The dude who runs Zoo York has mad footage, and the first Zoo York Mixtape features a great deal of early Stretch show videos. I had it back in the 90's on VHS. Lost it, and could never find it again. Anyone got???

So, does anybody have tapes of the comedy moments on Stretch & Bobbito that occurred around 4 am in the morn?

Krunchtime, Turn Up The Fuckin Bass, dissing callers and speaking to girls live over the phone.

on topic: i downloaded a show from 95 where its only bob and he plays mostly demos/promos and a few records..3 parts but somehow part 2 and 3 continue with the same songs/same part in the midst..dont know if peeps would be interested ?
So I spoke to my other man and it seems is all I need is a walkman and a $5 cable from Radio Shack. I'm gonna get this shit poppin in the next week.

Pretty sure this is the night with Big L and Jay. If not, it's on a different tape. And I spoke to my other boy who has mad tapes, and I am going to get them off him and rip them once I am up and running. It's on!

Aight so Stretch just fucked me up, but only momentarily..

Stretch Armstrong
Big L & Jay-Z was 2/23/95. But why don't you stop half-steppin' and give me the tapes? I'll knock out all of them in under a month.

I did a quick rip of one of the joints played on that show and put it in the Freestyles Demos Rarities thread. What I wouldn't give to have a clean recording of Adagio's A Boy & Girl Tale.
No, the one on this tape is the og demo of Adagio's Boy And Girl Tale.
Completely different beat. This was like 3 years before that EP dropped. And
for the record, Bobbito pronounced their name wrong. It's "uh-dee-zhee-o". I
know that's not the exact proper way to break it down but you get it.

And I've recently ripped their "The Break EP", "NY To Philly EP", and "Poetry
To Infinity VLS" all at 320 so I should be posting them soon.

bad-cop wrote:Not to get too much off topic, but what's the track before the Adagio joint... something "It's The Shit"? Unreleased demo?

BC
I believe Bob referred to it as "The Cocky" (kiddie slang for doo-doo) since he couldn't curse on the air in a non-artistic context. So likely translation is "The Shit" by a Brooklyn crew called The Nation (or probably spelled Da Nation as was fashionable at the time).
DJMIKENICE wrote:? on the Bobbito demo's whats the name of the track with Sadat X he spits a portion of the verse from Come on Motherfuckers "papi chulo to all the spanish mamis"
I thought this was an ill-ass demo too until Bobbito id's it at the end. This is live @ Rocksteady Anniv. 1994. I don't remember Brand Nubian's history too well; was this a reunion of some kind? Bobbito also played an excerpt of an Organized Konfusion performance at the same show.

speaking of Diamond D, there is this song Stretch & Bob played a few times about a year before Haterd, Passions dropped that I'm looking for. It sounded like a demo and I haven't heard it again since,& I don't mean the song he did with Everlast, it's just D rhyming on it.

Here is my contribution, Lord Sear, Sucio Smash DJ Soul and J-Love speaking to 2 bi-sexual females on the late night.

This is the CMFamalam show after Bobbito left and it was just Sear & J-Love hosting, things got mad wild from time to time.
