L had just dropped Ebonics and Bob asks if he saw Thereג€™s Something About Mary, so this show was some time after mid-July when the movie was released. Maybe TheBigSleep can whittle it down to the likeliest month.
Yeah, I had Big L's interview and freestyle from this show, thanks for a more complete version.

However, as far as the day, you pretty much discussed everything I could've / would've already. I'd say it could be either late July or early August since Ebonics dropped in the summer but that's all I've got.
aleph wrote:Also, added info: I went through a few already upped shows and the July 24, 1997 show does not list Psycho Les of The Beatnuts as a guest (he freestyles on part two).
Thanks man, that kind of information is helpful and saves me the time going through figuring it out later down the road.

Added shows:

Thursday, May 16th, 1996
Thursday, May 1st, 1997 (Shabaam Sahdeeq)
Thursday, July 10th, 1997 (Siah & Yeshua DapoED, Scienz of Life, Cage, Necro, Ill Bill)

Added info:

Thursday, July 24th, 1997 (Tha Alkaholiks, Psycho Les)

Shouts to aleph and RELM.

Yeah, I'm going to be starting to post links to shows on the T.R.O.Y. blog (as well as the Stretch & Bob one I have going) in hopes that it'll drive out others with either more info, more shows or both.

Here's the first of many:

http://www.thetroyblog.com/2010/08/23/t ... 19th-1992/

I have also tweaked the layout to The Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Show site, added links (to places that've posted shows in the past), playlists, cover art, photos, video and Stretch's comments.

Hopefully those things'll help increase new viewership and interest.

And let me know of any other sites I should add to the list of contributors (including related interviews), about anything wrong with any of the playlists and about any additional cover art, photos and / or video (I know I've seen more out there).

...So we continue thru the venue...

Date: June 4, 1998. Guests: Mic Vandalz, Jane Blaze, Kasino.

This tape starts off at the tail end of the freestyle sesh so I assume that weג€™re missing at least the first hour or more, plus it only caught a couple of emcees (no Jane Blaze). On the up side, FINALLY a playlist that includes Lord Searג€™s Get At Me Cat. They played this a few times throughout the year; Iג€™m surprised it didnג€™t come up earlier. Easily the most hilario of Searג€™s ג€œnerd styleג€ joints. I wish Fondle Em released this.

Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz- Streets To Da Stage

For the Lord Sear fans, I'm gonna post the 2 versions of Get At Me Cat in the Demos/Rarities thread.

ok, 1st off thanks for upping that show aleph & bomba!! all is appreciated!!

now, i looked thru my S&B shows and compared my list with Sleep's S&B website & that list aleph put up and i see i have some shows that are not listed in either.

now, after i put down down this list, verge, aleph, bomba or etc. please check the dates to make sure they are correct and im not puttin down a show that has been already upped.

and, sadly i cannot upload certain things on my crummy internet service. so if someone can up these shows on my behalf let me know. also if they can ID them that can be kool as well. so if whoever can do that i can put them all on a mp3 cd for u and send it out.

ok here we go:
hot 97 w/ noreaga 1997
2/1/97
6/12/96
7/7/97
1994 w/ Nine

hot 97 4/24/97
hot 97 w/ outsidaz 1999
hot 97 w/shyne & black rob 9/24/00

edit: that hot 97 4/24/97 show......i dont know if thats the right date. all i know is that eminem is on the beginning freestyling over numerous beats. it ok could a be a '98 show. and if it is it has already been upped. so please check on that for me.

thanks aleph and if u want to be the lucky contestant to figure out what the dates are and id'ing these shows then step right up!

Apparently I'm bad at searching for pictures, can anybody up that flier for The Skinny Bonz Show? (It's black text on a white background and I know was posted somewhere in T.R.O.Y. a while back but now I can't find it.)

The Zoo York Mixtape VHS rip is now on the T.R.O.Y. blog:

http://www.thetroyblog.com/2010/09/03/t ... 10th-1993/

Everything's available in this thread, that's where I'm drawing material from, so you as a member here don't have to wait for me to organize everything, it's all here.

However, I did just start mirroring to T.R.O.Y. and the Stretch and Bob site for the rest of the general public, which will continue throughout this month and assuredly into subsequent months as well.

And not all of those shows have even surfaced, there are at least a few that we only have the dates of so far. If it hasn't appeared and / or been mentioned on here yet, chances are it hasn't been put up anywhere else online either.

http://hotasballs.wordpress.com/2010/09 ... -part-one/

I've just arranged (with help from Gloss and Verge) for next month (October 2010) to be designated Stretch & Bobbito month on the T.R.O.Y. Blog, so everybody stay tuned for that theme starting up full force in a few weeks.
bomba wrote:Nice! Fitting - I believe this October marks the 20th anniversary of the show (in various incarnations) on 89tec9.
That is why I planned it that way, yes.
RELM wrote:Look forward to that month of goodies on the T.R.O.Y Blog. Supposedly there was talk of a show on 89.9 in the month of October to mark the anniversary, let's hope this happens.
Yeah, this was discussed and worked into account as well. Regardless of whether or not the show actually happens, overall it'll be a good month to bring more attention and raise awareness.
BrandanEvans wrote:I hope throughout that month there will be shows that never been upped before not recycled shows.
Once again I wouldn't count on it, as I'm gathering shows from this thread. However, if aleph or Nes or anybody else who is still ripping shows for people wanna hold back on posting up new rips, then that's up to them.

I don't know if anything different will surface then but personally I don't have access any unheard shows, everything I'm posting show-wise will be from this thread, so anybody who is part of T.R.O.Y. will have the opportunity to hear shows early that way. Everything else is up to the uploaders themselves.

Hopefully there will be a surprise or two in store but I wouldn't count on anything in particular.

william g. wrote:I've got a question about the November 1993 show..

The one with Large Professor and Pharoahe Monch.

I saw a interview recently where someone had asked what show was one of Bobbito's favorite's and he said that November 1993 show because Monch and Kool Keith were some of his favorite mc's and Large Pro was laying down live beats, some of which he never released or used for any mc's.

I have this show but can't recall if it has Large Pro's live beats on it.

I'm not at home right now to look for it.

Does the DL link in this thread had the session where LP is doing live beats for Pharoahe and Kool Keith rhyming over them?

Thank's for any help!
An edited version of the show had a limited cd release about a decade ago, I think. Iג€™m pretty sure I d/lג€™ed it from here. The complete lineup of emcees included both Monch and Prince Po, Keith, TR Love, O.C. and Large Pro himself. There was also a new jack called The Force Of One freestyling, plus Bobbito doing his ג€œHawaiiג€ verse, both of which were not included on the release.

A couple of those beats found their way into songs like Tragedyג€™s Funk Mode and Mad Skillzג€™s Skillz In 95.

September 28th, 1995 [Feat Kool G Rap & The Grim Reaper/ MF Grimm]

If the og 5th Anniversary shows came from Konstant Kontact, and the majority of you lot copped those at the time, then you probably already have this, I thought I'd throw it up anyway as its a top choice tape; Top choice tracklisting, Kool G Rap Freestyles and cos it just looks cool as fuck

The thin coloured card cover with the 2 authenticating super-rockin inked stamps is sick , and the upside down label on the cassette add to the whole thing. Oh, and Stretch cuttin up Deputy Dawg or the Laffalympics cat or whoever that is on 'OH MY GOD' over Bas Blasta? That used to have me buckled over!

I think this was bought at Footwork. Nine-cinco sickness. Simple as. Enjoy, there's more to come, but I dont know how many have already been upped. I'll check. Enjoy your weekend

Many, many big ups Irish Craig! Can't thank ya enough!
1st show:
Classic night, word. The demo is a "Poops" promo. He was down with Pumpkinhead when Pumpkinhead was like really killing shit. I'm not a PH fan anymore, though.
Anyways, I did a 2 blog posts with this track and some other promos and demos from Poops:
http://www.thetroyblog.com/tag/poops/
Again, thanks to kev beacham and Nes(Edit: and Digital Stimulation, Thun, and Blockhead) for originally upping a couple of those tracks. And whoever else I didn't credit, claim yo props. I'm glad that we could all put petty beefs aside and come together for this historical project.

The demo after Biology 101, I remember it clearly.."we're moving outta south boro.." can't place it though. Remind me of an east coast Alkaholiks not named the Beatnuts.

Not sure on that Freestyle but its not Godfather Don but someone here will know who it is.
Thanks again Craig!

2nd show (wow, the Biz Mark Benny n The Jets show! I used to love this tape):I edited in my id's already.

not sure about "thats the way life goes" but it could be Bad Influence. There's only a snippet of the remix of it online and I'm not sweating anybody who only posts snippets, with any questions. You know?
Edit: serch4beatz has this record in his discogs list so he could id it if he wants. If not, I can ask deerhunta.

It seems like it was their intention to sell only 90 minute versions of their shows, one of the obvious reasons being that it would fit on a standard length cassette. But also perhaps bc of potential legal issues with artists or maybe they thought it would defeat the purpose of fans tuning in and recording it themselves, I don't know...

I mentioned earlier that the Nov. 93 show with Large Pro and his SP with OK, OC & Keith was missing a new jack called The Force Of One. If my pause tapes are to be believed I think it's also missing an appearance by Del who came up earlier in the show and rhymed w/Lord Sear. I didn't record it; I wasn't feelin his freestyle at the time, but I did record Sear w/Del snickering in the background. Anyway, that's another example. EDIT: Del's appearance was not from 11/11/93 but most likely the previous show, 11/4/93 or before.

From my own pause-edited tape from the Non-Phixion show I have Bob playing (after Biology 101):

Supernatural- Buddha Blessed It
Chino XL- Deliver
Godfather Don- Forever My Lady
J-Live- Braggin Writes
Cenobites- Keep On
Godfather Don- Don Don Don/Do I Come Off?

I'm not complaining. They did a good transfer job on these tapes. Peace IRISH CRAIG.

The rest of bomba's tapes are mostly parts of shows. Here are two:

Date: July 31, 1997. Guest: Dutchmin.

I remember the first time I heard "no homo" i think was on an "Opie And Anthony show" and I immediately thought of the "ayo/pause" phenomenom.

as i remember from what S&B said, the Aye Yo originated from DJ Riz cause he said it all the time. but S&B and Sear decided to say it everytime somebody goes off the deep end homo wise. its pretty funny man, i remember a '98 show when Big L said play his joint back 2 back style and Bobbito paused and said Aye Yo. Man I was laughin my azz off cause the way he said it, but Big L wasnt in on it so it flew on by. Very funny man. But the originator is DJ Riz

Nice!

On Non Phixion's Green DVD there's a part where DJ Eclipse is showing you around his house and his record collection and then goes into a room where he has a whole wall full of old tapes.

It doesn't get close enough to show dates of any of those shows but he gives info on a couple of them.

Really great part of that DVD.
I can just make out two dates:

12-14-95
12-28-95 (upped)

The 14th checks out. The Big Sleep?

Nes posted this show at his blog on Tuesday:

Maybe a lot of you already know this, but concerning DJ Eclipse, here is the podcast of it's haltime show 10th anniversary special from 2008, in the beginning a little talk with bobbito remembering the KCR sessions back in the days.

Looks like you arrived on cue. I have one last S&B show to rip, and then itג€™s cleanup work here and there (i.e. finding out if previously posted shows are incomplete and seeing if bombaג€™s tapes can round those out).

I remember this show with Mo Bee and RIF. Good stuff, props dude.

Peace to Krisch, snitchel, bad-cop, DJ Eclipse, aleph, bomba, HecticEclectic and IRISH_CRAIG for contributing.

Added days (no rips, text grabbed from Bobbito in RapPages thanks to RELM):

Thursday, April 4th, 1991 (Organized Konfusion)
Thursday, January 11th, 1996 (A Butta & L-Swift)
Thursday, April 11th, 1996 (La the Darkman)
Thursday, June 27th, 1996 (Ras Kass)

(Bob actually said the first Organized show was April 2nd, which was a Tuesday, it was brought up on here once before. All the other shows were already written as Thursday dates.)
aleph wrote:I have one last S&B show to rip and then itג€™s cleanup work here and there (i.e. finding out if previously posted shows are incomplete and seeing if bombaג€™s tapes can round those out).
Thanks again, I'm glad you're doing this man.

Remember everyone, duplicate days don't necessarily mean duplicate recordings of that portion of the show. And even if it is, two pause tapes from the same night will of course offer different audio.

In this case, just because something has been posted before doesn't mean we already have the most complete, best quality version available.
Dat_Triflin_Ass_Dude wrote:Yo BigSleep, you should keep track of and compile a list of every single contributor on top of the shit you're already keeping track of, just copy and paste the list anytime you wanna post some props.
I know you're jokin' here but I've thought about this problem and I actually do have a list of contributors, people just don't need to see the full list in each instance where an individual advances this project, that quickly becomes too much repeated text.

The point is to highlight the people who are keeping this project going and it becomes hard to see who even contributed when it's just a list of everybody. And we're all extremely grateful for everybody's work here, but we can only focus on what's current, because if you look back, the sources of the material posted before got props back then too.

Nobody will be forgotten in the sea of names, if anything we're trying to promote the people who have helped out, we want to give you guys credit for this. But the giant list of every single contributor who ever did anything for us is not for every time I post in this thread. It'll most likely be added both at the beginning of this thread and the Stretch & Bobbito site, plus individual props given out accordingly on the T.R.O.Y. Blog, as we've done so far.

We have exclusives (no, not of the show) that may start appearing on the T.R.O.Y. Blog as early as two days from now, let's focus on that.

If anybody wants to write a guest piece on the show, Stretch or Bobbito, for the blog sometime next month, let us know what you want to write about or send us a sample of what you wanna say and it'll be reviewed and considered.
