I think including Christian rap as part of real true hip hop makes us all look silly. It's fine if you want to praise the most high as you understand it but don't make it all your music is about. Besides, name me a quality "christian" rapper that would last five seconds in a freestyle battle with any of the greats.

You ROFLing at me or with me? I'm dead serious. Christian rap is the most lyrically inbred type of music ever. Don't get me wrong, I love that spiritual Rasta or 5% (Nation of Gods and Earths) shit. I just hate how Christians express their spirituality in rap. Maybe I'm a hater.

I wonder how many "closet christian" MC's there are. Not catholic, but straight christian.... I think Phife is one. Wyclef maybe another one?

The Ambassador from The Cross Movement, definitly...but, freestyle with the greats?! How come you placing christian rappers in such pattern?...it doesn't make sense at all...and why not make it a Christian rap thread, but a quality thread i mean...ever heard of a group called Soldiers of Christ? They got an album from 1992, lyrics are fire and production is top notch, considering the year of release, i'll post ir tomorrow...but hey, even The Boogie Monsters are placed somehow, between underground and gospel rap...

they've got like 3 or 4 albums, plus sup had a really great solo release in 2000. he's probably dropped something else as well.

Phase III is gospel rap's It Takes a Nation. I originally purchased this album on cassette, and then finally on CD. Phase III is probably the most influential album in gospel hip hop, Wikipedia calls is a turning point in the genre. It was the first Christian rap record, to my knowledge, to drop the N word, although in a spiritual context. This album has it all, some of the songs are challenging, some of the songs are praise songs, and others are just good old fashioned party songs. - posafebeats.blogspot.com

Not my fave joints by him by any means, but he's dope and I without question would put his catalog up against anybody who's been heavily jocked 2-3 years.

Blogger had beef with some of my posts apparently. I received an email stating that I had illegal content and that I had been warned previously and due my refusal to take down said posts/content my blog had been shut down. R.I.P.

Not to derail the thread, but that really sucks man.

It was definitely one of the bigger labels (one of the ones who will continually complain about this kinda shit, like Stones Throw tends to do for example) that did you in, sorry to hear about that.

I've been reading about Google / Blogger doing this over the last couple days, didn't realize that your blog was one of the ones that was hit already. Even if you had complied and removed posts chances are once you received multiple complaints they were gonna shut you down pretty much no matter what you did (short of proving that you owned the rights and / or were allowed to post such material and even with that your blog could've been gone before you were able to do anything about it).

And to everybody running a blog, I guess the lesson here is don't post anything mainstream or major label, don't post anything pre-release or anything that will get you looked at or get a complaint against your blog for any reason. And if you still choose to do that stuff (or even if you don't and are worried they are gonna take your blog down anyway), archive and back up everything on a regular basis because they can and looks like they will continue to keep doing this sorta thing. And it's not like Wordpress is any better.

What I find funny is that I haven't updated it in like a year and any questionable links were already long dead...

Yeah, it looks like just about any blog who ever got more than one complaint sent to Google about them just randomly got axed.

On topic, if I find myself listening to Christian rap it's probably something like Theory Hazit.
