WTF happened to... (add on and build)

^^Yeah, Lakim co-produced "*!*! What U Heard". Funny, I just mentioned
that on a quick VLS blog post I did last night.
Here's the Tony Bones interview:
http://www.unkut.com/2007/02/tony-bones-interview/
Wonder what happened with Ak Skills.
And True Master. True Master was a great producer to me, at one point.
Had his own Wu sound. Them slowed down, off kilter samples and drums
were great.

The Anntex/J-Zone comparison is pretty on point in a lot of ways.... good call..Freezy Pazzy wrote:Ahahah, that's cool.Thun wrote:Anttex responded to my review of his album ... seems like he's not rapping anymore.

A friend told me to read your review and I begrudgingly agreed. Have to say itגs the most accurate review I read about my album. Pretty much describes where my head was at the time. LOL. Almost makes me miss being a rapper.
Oh Word,
Anttex
To me, Anttex was J-Zone BEFORE the world even heard about J-Zone.
I found so many similarities between both of them... Very sarcastic, self-produced & engineered... And a lot of people still don't know Anttex's LP was the first album where a young Havoc could be heard.

Did he release more than like 2 songs?Verge wrote:Afaik, he does a lot of artwork for the last bunch of years.House of Games wrote:Tony Bones?
There was a very good interview with him at Unkut a while ago.
I can't get to it from work, but he speaks on how he was signed,
in the process of making an album, and the label wanted him to jump
on that jiggy bs and even said they wanted to make him into some sort
of neo Slick Rick. He wasn't beat and left the label.
I might be a little off about all of this, it's just how I remember it.
There's about a handful of really dope demos floating around.House of Games wrote:Did he release more than like 2 songs?Verge wrote:Afaik, he does a lot of artwork for the last bunch of years.House of Games wrote:Tony Bones?

Come Inside/Upstairs (not sure which is the real title)
Hunger Strike w/ Mr. Live
89.9 Promo with Mr. Live
Freestyle on Stretch & Bob
There's also "Deep In Your Bones" , and I think
another one I can't remember right now.
Maybe we should just start a Tony Bones thread and
try to get everything up there.

Kwest Tha Madd Ladd?
He recorded This Is My First Album in 94 and later released These Are My Unreleased Recordings. The last time I saw him pop up was on the first Lyricist Lounge album in 98.
The man could freestyle like a motherfucker too. Has anyone heard any other tracks by him?

Good call on Big Ish, that demo is dope for sure, props to Kevin Beacham for postin' that up in the Freestyles, Demos and Rarities thread.aREAL wrote:Big Ish? Eighteen year old cat from South Bronx, recorded the illest motherfuckin' demo I've ever heard then he died...or something. I don't know.
Also, MC Serge.. what happened to him? Did he quit rappin' totally when he lost that freestyle battle versus Freshco back in the days? His track "Both Sides" which was on a Stretch & Bobbito show in 1993 was the SHIT. I wish he did more joints, maybe he did? I don't know..

Wierd, because I asked him if he had heard this demo before and he told me not and asked me if I could send it to him. I had forgotten where I got it from and since Kevin shares loads of dope demos I figured I'd ask if it was him that shared it, but apparently it wasn't he said or his memory isn't the greatest.Good call on Big Ish, that demo is dope for sure, props to Kevin Beacham for postin' that up in the Freestyles, Demos and Rarities thread.

Anttex also launched Company Flow. His label, Libra released Juvenile Techniques, and even before that El-P was down with him as a shorty, going by the handle Jamel (Jamie Meline). At the end of Anttex's As The World Turns (w/Havoc) he gives him a shout-out. Libra is also where EL met Bigg Jus, who was an employee.Freezy Pazzy wrote:Ahahah, that's cool.Thun wrote:Anttex responded to my review of his album ... seems like he's not rapping anymore.

Of course, things ended badly between them. Legend has it that Jus jetted Libra after he overheard shady business dealings that would have jerked El and Co Flow (sound familiar?). That's why you hear EL rap "Fuck Anttex" on one the Stretch & Bob freestyles.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Don't mean to flood this thread (or have diarrhea of the post) but the Tony Bones joints out there afaik (not incl. radio appearances):House of Games wrote:word, I have the following and hope there's more:Verge wrote: There's about a handful of really dope demos floating around.

Add on!

Speaking of "Libra Records": There was this dude generically named "Legit",
who dropped only one single that I know of on that label.
This would have been a dollar crate record a few years ago, but now, with
the recent trend of "rare random rap" on ebay, the shit is pretty expensive if
you can find it.

I know you obviously taped Bobbito and WNYU and WBAI, but did you ever
listen to 105.9 back then?
Hank Love n Half Pint, Special K n Teddy Ted, Dirty Dozens show?
There's probably another couple, and it might have been 105.1, I don't remember.
Anyway, my point was that's where I had it from back then and had been
looking for it ever since. If anyone got this on vinyl and would sell it for a
decent price, let me know..

I have the other track somewhere, but it's not half as nice as this.

Didn't Jaz request that? Or was that a different Jungles Of The East? Either way, I don't know who filled the request, so I guess this post is useless.
Edit: TheBigSleep filled the request and baijterfobia (or something like that) requested it, but I don't know if either of them have further info on Legit.

Kimani also linked up w/Mr. Len for the group Roosevelt Franklin...they dropped an album on Third Earth too. I think they were supposed to be working on a follow up...but I dont know if that ever went/will go down.
