thanks for the huge upload!
but i must say this show was rather "boring" for me at least..all they do is talk/freestyle..then a joint comes on..then again talk..track..and so on and so forth ...they never just shut up for lets say an hour and let the dj do his thing (till revolution showed up) ?

I know man! I never understood that either. It really wasn't until DJ Revolution took over in '96 that that would happen. Funny thing is, sometimes Joe Quixx would mix live for 45 minutes on 'Club 106' which was Saturday nights, but yeah, that never happened on The Wake Up Show. Regardless, this show was HUGE for me and Bay Area Hiphop heads in general back then. This was the main major show. Aside from this, we had the College Radio Shows like Kevvy Kev's THE DRUM on KZSU Sunday nights with DJ Kutmasta Kurt tearin it up in the mix. Nothing compares to what New Yorkers had with The Stretch Armstrong Show though...

Good shit! So I take it no one had ever heard those appearences from NaS and Big L on that show??? I'm glad I was not only listening back then in '94, but also taping! Funny thing is, I remember being pretty worried cuz I didn't have that much space left on the tape. Thankfully it barely fit.

Yeah, it's new to the internet (at least as far as I know and I basically have everything there is out there already). And I'm glad you were taping back then too. Thanks again.

Check this out folks... It isn't The Wake Up Show, but it's Kevvy Kev's THE DRUM POSSE radio mixshow from 1993 on KZSU Stanford. This is back when Kutmasta Kurt was Kev's resident DJ and would tear shit up in the mix flippin' doubles and doin' tricks n shit. Kevvy Kev did become a part of The Wake Up Show in 1994. Anyways, I converted the show from tape to cd to mp3 in 256 quality. The tape quality, as always from me, is good too!! Btw, it's pause edited a little bit, but in a good way. Enjoy...

Back in ג€™96 when DJ Revolution beat the resident DJ, Prince Ice, in a battle and took over as the DJ of The King Tech Wake Up Show, the show then became the ILLEST Hiphop Mixshow on radio, period!! The WUS went on to be syndicated and was on over 20 different radio stations across the US and also on in various countries like Mexico, France, Japan, New Zealand, Sweeden, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, etc. DJ Revolution would cut REAL Hiphop the fuck up like no other every week and always be on point! There was nothing greater then listening to DJ Revolution in the mix and The World Famous Wake Up Show. Enjoy...

I like converting these so I know these shows are safe. You never know when a tape could break or get ruined.

Word. I've been meaning to put all my Time Travel shows on disc, but I'm just too lazy.

Keep up the good work.

I pretty much stay up late most nights during the week. Once my girl goes to sleep, I head upstairs to my studio room to kick it, dig thru my vinyl, plan mixes and radio shows, practice mixing/scratching, record mix cd's, convert tapes, etc. I rarely ever turn on the tv in there too. I always got my rum, coke and smoke (and I don't mean cigs) up there as well. Typically I stay up til 4-430am. I'm able to do this cuz everyday when I get home from work between 230-400 I take a 1-3 hour nap.

But yeah, converting the tapes is fun and I do it while I'm diggin thru my collection and workin on mixes and what not. And for converting, I run my stereo through my Rane mixer which then goes to my TDK CD Recorder. I'm able to tweak the levels on my stereo and on my mixer so that the tapes sound the best they can. Not to be a dick, but some peoples tape conversions are horrible! I know its about just being able to hear whatever show, but still, the sound quality is very important to me, and as it should be to most.

I wanna know where all the cats out of Los Angeles are at? I wanna hear some of the Wake Up Shows that were exclusive to LA like late '94 when Sway & Tech were flying back and forth doing a live show Friday nights here in the Bay on KMEL then a live show Saturday nights in LA on THE BEAT.

Also, I need Wake Up Shows between '95 and '97/'98 cuz I was never home to record those. I was always out & about and listening in the car (those were my Import Street Racing days... Wicked Racing represent!). During those years they did dope shit like connecting live with Marley Marl's PIRATE RADIO in NYC and there was a period where RZA was co-hosting EVERY WEEK for months! So many classic shows during that time period. I also want the show where DJ Revolution battled King Tech and won! I think that was Rev's first appearance on the show and from early '96.

Trust me man, I'm with you. I could listen to old radio shows ALL DAY!!! A lot of times I prefer listening to old radio shows then I do actual albums. haha I typically burn various old radio shows and listen to them in the car as well as when I'm home playing Xbox. And it's the greatest thing to have a Hiphop Radio Mixshow myself... It's just too bad I didn't have one in the 90's.

Btw, what's the "Dutch Master Villa 65" radio show?

I think I'm gonna look for one of the Wake Up Shows from '97 where they linked up live with Marley Marl's Pirate Radio in NYC. I think Sauce Money and someone else was in the studio with Marley, but I forget who was in the studio with Sway & Tech. Stay tuned...

Dutch Masters Villa 65 was a radio show in the 90s by pretty much the Dutch version of Stretch & Bob. Sometimes they spoke English, sometimes they spoke Dutch, but their show was ill. Check this post in Phila regarding them: http://www.philaflava.com/forum/viewtop ... ight=villa I don't know if the link in there is still active, but if it is, it's definitely worth the time to try and cop that massive download.[/url]
