Just listened to the last Ancient Astronauts album.
Shame on me I slept on this. It's like DJ Shadow at his good (best?) times, there are downtempo/trip-hop/dub/electronic elements on this, but the pure hip-hop beats are FIRE.

Eardrumz - Nineties-style Producer

Post by night_shade »

This is my first thread here. Great forum you guys have got...some real Hip Hop heads on here.

So this isn't exactly T.RO.Y era but it might as well be. This dude's beats sound like they came out of the height of the nineties...dirty drums and crackly xylophones, etc. The sound is a little newer but it's about as close as you'll get with a modern producer. Most of his shit is available for free online.

This is his remix album. It's of mostly classic golden era tracks, most of it is pretty dope. The Samson and Swift joint is definitely my favorite, great sound.

<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8EUyOFgwtbg?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8EUyOFgwtbg?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QBbLjMr0ajw?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QBbLjMr0ajw?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Eardrumz - Ill Renditions (Remixes):

And this is one of his instrumental albums...also with a great golden era sound. This is all I could find on youtube...there are definitely better and more nineties-like tracks on the album.

<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2K8Sxw7M-CA?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2K8Sxw7M-CA?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Eardrumz - Vinyl Vixens (Instrumentals):

If this has been posted already, my apologies. I searched and didn't come up with anything.

If people dig this stuff I'll up more. As far as I can tell he has a lot more out there. The vinyl vixens album is available on wax, and he has some stuff on Itunes too. Support the dude, he makes dope music.

Gonna peep these for sure, I know that name from somewhere, just not sure where....

I'm gonna fix this myself real quick but I just wanted to note this for some of the heads who don't know how to embed youtubes:

Go to the page of the video. Below the video you'll see a few options, one of which being "Share".

Click "share" and then you'll see "Link To This Video" with a code. BELOW that, to the left, you'll see an embed button.

Click "embed" and you'll see a bunch of html code. Copy that and post it here and that's all.

If, when you click "Embed", you some strange "i-phone" looking code, don't use that. Below that code you should see a button saying something like "Use old code?". Click that and continue other instructions. After you do that, you shouldn't have that "i-phone" code problem anymore, everything should always be back in regular html.

No doubt man, i wasn't trying to single you out cause there's quite a few dudes who I think don't realize they can embed yt here or don't see how easy it is.

Gonna merge this with the "Now Era stuff you might like" thread.

Thanks!

umm, can someone confirm that this is indeed the same LArry O from Real Live?:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Larry-O-F ... 0886083710
Pretty sure it is, looks similar, from NJ, voice similar, old, and making terribly awful music without K Def.

Still wishing that Real Live sophomore LP from 1997 that K Def said he was gonna release a few years ago. It sounds way far fetched at this point, but being K Def recently got down with ReDefinition (who are pretty prolific with their releases) and immediately dropped a funky 45, you never know I guess. I'm sure Larry O could use the dough and promo too.

I was looking for a picture of Larry O to match to that FB pic and found this:
<object width="425" height="349"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Zt53fAOvXXY?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Zt53fAOvXXY?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="349" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

^So apparently thats from only a couple of months ago. :gyeah:

Other than the track Drizzle posted, this page is fill of atrocious music. Damned near insulting in many cases.

There was this guy, a beatmaker, he made pure 90s beats, absolute fire.
He passed away not very long ago, I had all his work but then my HD crashed and I lost everything and now I don't even remember his name, I've been bagning my head against the wall for two days now but still, I can't remember.
The only thing I remember is that he had a website (black/dark colors everywhere), he was telling some things about the illuminati and stuff, he even had a logo or something that looked like a masonic symbol, and one of his friends (his best friend?), who was an MC, wrote that he passed away and that them two had some collabo joints together.
Please somebody help me, I'm pretty sure that philaflava was the first place where I heard about this guy, he had some amazing beats!

I'm diggin all their music and videos so far. Talented young 'uns with a cella dwellas-esque type of gimmick going on, mellow 90s sounding beats, and decent rhyme styles.
