^I saw him perform at Fat Beats NY about a month ago, it gave me even more appreciation for his direction of sample based boom bap production. He had a live band playing his music that day. Plus he works heavily with Elzhi, one of my favorite recent MCs.

about a year old but I still bump this on the regular to put me in a good mood:
http://inversehiphop.wordpress.com/

Diabolic - A Liar & A Thief is a strong album
Skyzoo - The Salvation
Marco Polo & Torae - Double Barrel

When you follow certain producer names you can catch some good new hip hop more easily sometimes. Marco Polo's been doing his thing with Duck Down, M-Phazes, Illmind, Scram Jones, Green Lantern, Denaun Porter, Shuko, Kev Brown, Nottz, Suff Daddy, Static Music, Presto etc.

I thought this mixtape by Dead Prez was deep, the effort behind the music makes it feel like a mini album. Their affiliates, The A-Alikes have some dope music too, but not the level of propmotion they deserve at the moment.

Saukrates - Wednesday prod by Tone Mason. Bangin drums and a memorable chorus, the synth sounds are used in a good way in my opinion, not soundin glossy like commercial records. Saukrates is good as ever on the mic. http://usershare.net/urwee1zdlny7

Promise - Much More feat. Darien Brockington of Foreign Exchange and Von Pea of Tanya Morgan. A smoothed out style of hip hop song compared to others I posted, but with the main elements about what I like of hip hop intact. I don't know how people feel about this new style but I'm lovin' it. It's a song you can put on every now and then to calm you and reflect upon life. One of my favorite parts is the chorus. http://usershare.net/fvnj6md4etr3

D-Black brings the raw sound for sure, one of the illest new voices I've heard from the East Coast tri state area. Mixtape features production by Just Blaze, Nottz, Illmind, Jay Dee, DJ Babu and D himself. http://www.myspace.com/immaproblem

This song by JR&PH7 is pretty ill,it's got a spaced-out jazz fusion sound with deep, thumping drums to back the lyrics, it reminds of something I would've been happy to hear coming on WKCR on the late night back in the day.

I think Saigon still does his thing, but he's been quiet since Jay Electronica has come more into the popularity. I'm waiting on his Greatest Story album to finally drop, but I still listen to the songs from a couple years back like Come On Baby, Eyeball, Don't Do That, Letter P.

A crew doing their thing right now that constantly gets overlooked is Collective Efforts. They just recently put out Freezing World (album cover in my sig).

Those are all songs from their most recent album (Freezing World). They also did a joint with Diamond D on the boards but it isn't up on youtube yet. It's a banger tho. The whole album is hot.

Btw, that Saukrates joint is pretty dope!

Something off a Weather Report cd anthology released not too long ago, featuring Ken Omega f/k/a Bosco Money.

Kinda sorta like Ride The B Side part II, one of the best flips of that tune.

Don't know the More Cheese record, but that's the guy. He had his own blogspot which he stopped updating after a week:
http://boscomoney.blogspot.com/

Now he has a website with his new handle:
http://www.kenomega.com/

Both have mp3's from his past and present output. He's also been selling his long unreleased rap opera EP, Secret Agent.

Thanks for the links. I gotta admit, this cat is kinda funny. I like his style, nh. I forget if this was just Sam Sever or if Bosco Money had anything to do with it.

I'm not seeing More Cheese on youtube, but I'll admit that it was real corny. At least the hook. But I guess it was a novelty type joint that not many knew about but I liked at the time. If there aren't any rips online, I think I already ripped it just gotta fix it up.

EDIT: sorry for derailing, didn't even realize what thread this was.

I'll have to up that for ya. Like I said, it is corny, so you'll either really like it or hate it. It's kind of embarrassing to be caught listening to, imo.
Hook: Kids sample saying, "moooore cheeeeeeese", rap, "gotta get the chedda to make my life better", over and over.
But for some reason, I loved it back then and still like it now.
Let me see if I have it already ripped on one of these hd's. Gimme a little while.

I don't know man, I think the only reason I ever liked a REKS track is cus Statik Selektah did the production. It's just not really my kind of content, similar to Black Milk. They both have some really amazing tracks, but as for the bulk of they content it's not really my style.

The Reks album got a lot of burn around here when it dropped. I remember really digging it when I first heard it but it didn't really hold up well after a few listens. Grey Hairs and maybe a couple of other joints are still pretty great, though.

Love this remix album of American Gangster by Shuko & Gunna from Germany, it's the best of the remixes i heard, K Def is 2nd to me.

Image

I really like what K-Def did on this album, he's a vet but updated his production style by replaying using plug ins and DAWs
