Moving forward I ONLY want people submitted one mix. I feel it's a bit unfair when you contribute multiple mixes because in reality it gives you the better odds once you gauge which is the better mix. One mix moving forward, that's it. Plus it's overload.

You are absolutly right...i have made six compilations, and each one seemed like it had something better than the previous, and that can result on unsatisfaction, there was so much to choose...tho it looks like Down'N'Dirty Tribe and Vakill were common choices...i have suddenly remembered DJ Hondas LP with remixes, all from 1995, damn i forgot those, they were mad dope...
Now, about the challenge...i liked schenectadyfans second compilation, better than the one posted here, to me it was the best of all them, but i'ma vote for mine of course...
The challenge was also nice, to discover some other remixes and even a few tracks...

All of them were quality, I will need some time to think about who was the best.

no doubt...

sadly my connection is so lame it takes me approx. 2hrs to d/l 100Megs on average.

out of all the other mixes posted it was mayhem's mix that caught my eye and made me want to check it out, so my vote goes to him.

not the best way of doing it but there ya go.

Yeah, agreed. If you make more than one mix/comp, just submit one for the challenge and then later on, if you feel inclined to, post your other ones. This way your work doesn't go un noticed and the more the merrier for finding new old shit. But of course only the one you submitted for the challenge will be in the poll.
Cool?

Voted for aleph cause I was just rockin that unreleased Supernat album from i think 95 yesterday. And Flashbacks isn't on there. I think it was only the b side for Buddha Blessed It. And there were two versions of that Buddha Blessed It record, for the record. One had Mind Tricks and Flashbacks and the other either had one or none of them.

Good to participate.

I've only downloaded 1/3 so far... aleph's OK track reminded me I need that New Jersey Drive soundtrack, never heard it other than in the movie.

The New Jersey Drive Soundtrack had 2 volumes, I upped them both(or copy/pasted,don't remember) a year or two ago, but the links might still work:

Thanks, Verge. Only Vol 2 worked, but skimming through the tracklists I've heard most of Vol 1 anyway. Gonna bump that Vol 2 in a minute.

My first (and probably only) vote! What can I say V? (The ecordsray are in the ailmay.) Actually Flashbacks was included in Supernatג€™s The Lost Freestyle Files, which is where I got it. I tagged it as the b-side of Buddha Blessed It for the purpose of this competition. Can you up that Supernat album, or provide a link?

As for my vote, it was tough enough to narrow it down to the final four: diggy, Freezy, Markshot and aREAL. I donג€™t know, I donג€™t knowג€¦

Yeah well, obviously, because some people only come here to make requests and to download shit, or simply speculate about this and that, quack-quack...even when you actually invest your time in it, check my 5 sample thread for instance....anyways, i've enjoyed participating in this challenge very much, hope there's still more to come...

Word. Maybe Gloss or myself or anyone who has a good idea for the next challenge will bring it soon. These are always fun and educating.

I was curious as to what other challenges have been done as this last one was the first one I participated in. I think this is pretty comprehensive :

8. 1995 Challenge
7. 1998-2002 Indie Era Challenge
6. Sample Sources Challenge
5. Best Album Cuts Challenge (pre-1997)
4. 1994 Challenge
3. New Jeruz Challenge
2. The 6 Degrees of Bad Boy Challenge
1. Challenge #1 (1990-1995)

What next, what next? :spidey:

Would be nice, 'coz half of the guys do not have instrumental versions :)

I think you're pretty on point with the list, diggy. I can't think of any others right now.

Architek: That's not a bad idea at all, really. we'll have to think this all over.

I think instrumentals would be the way to go this time. I probably couldn't participate but it sounds like a whole other challenge when the mc is out of the equation. To come up with 10-12 instros that would flow together and not sound dull-- wow, anybody who could put that together would be a true connoisseur.

I'm down. It could be very interesting. Only thing is there are some dope instrumentals that end up having ad-libs. Would those still be in play?

I was thinking about dub versions too. I see no problem with occasional vocal drops but obv I wouldn't be setting the criteria. Gloss?

I like the instru idea alot.

Some others to consider:
-1996 Challenge (this year is ill-represented in challenge form)
-B-sides Challenge
-Foreign cuts Challenge (no U.S. jawns allowed)
-Freestyle Challenge
-Major Label Challenge (no indie label jawns)
-New York Challenge (songs with NY in the name or about the greatest city)
-Only Tracks You Own Challenge (if don't own the vinyl - GTFO) (aka Borky Challenge)
