I love the demo of ג€œDeath Rowג€. The other two I donג€™t care for as much cuz I love the versions already released a lot better. Iג€™d buy this if it was $12.99 or less. Iג€™m not into spending a whole lot on some vinyl releaseג€¦ No vinyls are worth that much. I love all these demo and ג€œfrom the vaultsג€ type exclusive releases on DWG and OLU and all that, but shit, to some cat like me whoג€™s been diggin since ג€™89, itג€™s wack to have to spend $40, $50, $80, $100 for these fuckin ג€œlimited releasesג€ and what not. The most I ever spent on a record in my life was $25ish, and that was cuz it was a Japan only release.

I guess I'll have to go against what I believe and download the song ג€œDeath Rowג€. Oh well...

£25 for something like this aint too bad to be honest. They'll sell that amount at that price no problem (and the fewer you press the higher the sale price).
Give it a couple of months and you'll be able to sell it on for at least double what you paid (probably more)

That's pretty fuckin wack if you ask me. Who gives you or anyone else the right to make a profit off something like this??? The only people who should be making money off this are the people who are involved with putting the project out, and Tragedy Khadafi.

I can't stand all these clowns who go out and buy something like this just for the purpose of selling it months later when it's no longer available. BUY IT BECAUSE YOU ACTUALLY CARE TO HAVE THIS IN YOUR COLLECTION AND BECAUSE YOU ACTUALLY CARE TO DROP THE NEEDLE AND PLAY OR MIX WITH THE RECORD!!!!!!

^ Is that what you actually believe?

Or is that what you came up with because your vagina is still sore about previous beefs with step one?

^ hahaha This guy! It's what I truly believe and how I've always felt. I think most people here know this.

And for the record, I have no beef with step son and never have... I think he's a good dude and he posts up a lot of good radio shows on his blog. I've told him that plenty of times.

so you've never bought a second hand record off Ebay, Discogs or from a store then?
It could be resold 10 times over, it doesnt deprive the original record company/artist of funds from the original sale you fucking moron!

dude is borderline retarded and been banned about 3 times already. He's already slipping back into his old ways. He'll get into the Serato/MP3 argument with someone around his 50 post mark, alienate the whole forum around 75 posts and be banned again before he reaches 100.

I am talking about a person buying a record such as this Tragedy record with the INTENT of selling it to MAKE A PROFIT!!!!

It's one thing if a person has owned a record for a long time and then decides to part with it for whatever reason.

I just believe it's a FUCKED UP THING TO DO if you buy this Tragedy record just so you can hold on to it and sell it later when the demand is high. Again, whomever those people are, are the equivilent of bootleggers and deserve to be STONED in public.

For the record, yes, I've bought plenty of "second hand" records, over 90% of them in actual record stores. I've bought a few, maybe 3 or 4, off eBay over the years when the price was right and done the same with GEMM. Remember, I live in the beautiful BAY AREA here in sunny CA and we have a good Hiphop scene here and there's PLENTY of record stores so I actually leave my house (I know that's hard for some people to understand) and I go and get my fingers dusty and DIG. I laugh at all the people who go and spend up to $100 for ONE lousy record that I either bought when it came out for $5 or I've found in used record "dollar bins" or just in the used section for $3 or $4. TO THIS DAY when I'm out diggin, I come across records that sell for a lot online, but if it's something I already have and there's not a homie of mine who I know needs or wants it, then guess what I do? I LEAVE IT THERE!!! Why? So some other Hiphop head/digger like me can come up. I'm not some ASSHOLE who's gonna buy the record for $3 and then turn around and sell it online for $50. Those people disgust me!!

Honestly, unless it's an extremely limited high demand record, the market is going down for these limiteds and their resale value. There's people on discogs selling almost half of the olu catalog for around $60 a piece instead of the og $80.
And the fact that SO many "limiteds" have been dropping for the last few years. If it's not something like say the Godfather Don "Ill Funk Freaker" or something of that calibur, then the turnover isn't so high anymore. It's still there, just not like it was.

I try to always buy doubles and if/when I get real broke, I'll sell one on discogs for twice the price, unless it's a friend, which I'll sell for the og price. I'm not talking out my ass, I have done this on a few occasions.

Anyways, I think I'll pass on this one.

Wow. Even if money wasn't an issue, I still wouldn't buy these releases on principal alone. And you pretty much prove my point... These OLU and DWG and other "limited" releases are pretty much made for all the Europeans cuz those are all the folks buying up all that type of shit, including 90's indy Hiphop and spending $50, $80, $100, $150+ for ONE freakin record. And a lot of those types of records I see in "used bins" for usually under $5 and sometimes even in dollar or 50 cent bins in actual record stores. Crazy! I love buyin doubles of the 12" singles I really like, even ep's, but shit, I do that for NORMAL PRICED RECORDS $15 and under.

serch, you'd spend $160 for doubles of one OLU 12" release and have done so???

It's crazy how almost all of these "limited" releases are from artists/groups from here in the US, yet most cats here in the US ain't the ones buyin it cuz we can't afford it or just won't stand to pay such a ridiculous price. It's like, thanks guys, you're pimpin this shit and makin money off these euro cats and shittin on us regular cats here in the US. Oh well, guess that's how it is. I still say press up 1,000 copies and sell 'em for $20... Don't know why that makes so much sense to me.

aww you mad?..and no i've never bought an OLU release
also all these high prices for those indy records are simply because that stuff wasnt really distributed overseas/pressed up in huge quantities blablabla you know the deal supply and demand etc..

I mean, come on, of course I'm a little mad... Who here in the US really isn't? I see all over the net people complain about the euro cats being the resason records worth $5 or $10 are being sold for $50, $80, $100+. It's just crazy. Don't get me wrong, I think it's ill as fuck that cats from all over the world love the Hiphop from here in the USA that we love, cuz this is where Hiphop is from, but still, it just sucks how shit works.

It's pretty wack if there's a record that I might not have, cuz of course, there are records I don't have (I know it's shocking), and if I hit the net to see if anyone's selling it and BAM, some cats sellin it for $40 or $65. I'm like WTF?!! Cuz like I said, eventually I'll come across it in a record store here in the Bay, but it could be 4 years from now when I finally do, but it'll be like I said, usually $5 and under. So yeah, thanks bro... haha

There are records that I still haven't ever come across in my 21 years of diggin. I do eventually come up on almost everything I want/need, and no, it's not always in "dollar bins" and all. Most of the indy shit turns up in dollar bins though.

So you're from Sweden, right? Are there actual record stores in your general area or at least within a couple of hours drive or train ride? And if so, what are they like? Are any like how it is in Japan where you have TONS of Hiphop records from the US?

Well that too, smartass..lol, jk. I need a new mixer though. I'm still using my gemini676 that I bought in 97/98 and the crossfader's fucked up. It seems all good but every time I get in the middle of a mix that I'm recording, it fucks up. I'd like one of them Rane joints but gotdamn, them shits is expensive.

I can't front, I kind of agree with wicked about how online digging things are right now, but it is what it is. And if you are really fiending for a record and know you're not gonna find it anytime soon real life digging, then just look at online digging as a convenience that you have to pay highly for. that's all there is to it.

^It's not that I know I'm not gonna find it anytime soon cuz I could easily find it anytime... You just never know. I go out diggin all over the Bay all the time. I used to go once a week, typically Saturday's all day (11am-7 or 8pm) and did so for like 7-8 years straight, but a few years ago I started slowin down cuz of the lack of new vinyl releases. Today I went with my girl to a local bookstore and didn't find any good vinyl, but did come up on a couple of mint CD's (albums) for $1.99 and $3.99 and they are CD's that sell for $20-$40 on Amazon.

Btw Verge, you really should invest in a nice Rane mixer... Nothing compares in my opinion. I've had my Rane TTM-54i since 2001 and LOVE IT!! I had to replace the cross-fader a couple of times, but that's cuz of all the use it gets. haha
