Got the Debonair P/Omniscence 45s already, sound great. Really love how he didn't kill us with that pre-order crap.
Got the Mood Telepathy EP this afternoon, very nice.
Waiting since March for the Stedy Serv EP. Still waiting.
Lookin forward to see whats next from Chopped Herring.
Ordered that Dj Doom demo EP from Blunted Astronaut, sounds well mastered.
Anyone else who already got that Purple tape box, did yours come with the tape cover insert? Mine didn't. They should send me another box set to make up for this travesty, i won't sell it and use the money to buy other records, promise.

Nice, glad those 7"s reached you already and are sounding good. I had to get that record re-cut twice by the factory, so I'm glad I wasn't sitting on peoples money while those issues got sorted out.Verge wrote:Got the Debonair P/Omniscence 45s already, sound great. I am still waiting on the Steady Serv also - since February now? Apparently they have all been shipped now so hopefully soon... Waiting on the Mood too, but I bought it at the same time as the Kev E Kev so I guess it will be a while yet. Woke up early today to get that new Herring but the site was closed, will have to do the same tomorrow.

Re: All New Limited/Re-Issued Releases (post them here)
Great stuff from Chopped Hering:
This story is the story of 1990's 'Indie Hip Hop' 12"s and this project is dedicated to all the heads that appreciate them.
Ever heard of the MC Aiello Wilson and the group North Bronx Alliance? Nah, not many cats have. The only reason anyone has is due to the efforts of a few hardcore, OCD Hip Hop vinyl collectors and obsessional bloggers that have kept the music from these two extremely low-key 12" pressings alive.
In 1997, Aiello Wilson along with producer DJ Rob Dinero pressed up 300 copies of a single entitled 'Black Soil' featuring N.B.A (rappers K-Black and Cypher) themselves and did the typical independent record label thing of going from store to store in NYC pushing their product on consignment. The artwork consisted of a hand-spray-painted cover and anyone who has a copy of this very rare record can confirm the whole project looks, feels, sounds and smells indie. As well as pressing a small number of promo cassette tapes for the singles 'Black Soil' and 'Live 97/Black Caesar', Rob and his group N.B.A. started up the process of dropping another record but the project only got as far as test pressing stage and only 5 maybe 10 (he can't remember exactly) copies were made. In the last few years those records have been exchanging hands for many many dolla!
The only other outlet for their music was some guest spots at shows in NYC and the east of the States and an airing of a cassette demo of one of Aiello and Rob's tracks '80 Proof Rhymes' on Stretch and Bobbito's legendary NYC underground Hip Hop radio show. This show of support elevated Aiello Wilson's name to a reasonable level of underground Hip Hop mystique mainly because of another OCD pastime within the underground Hip Hop community 'The mapping of the Stretch and Bobbito shows' phenomenon which can be explored further on the very dope Hip Hop forum/website Philaflava. The track was never fully completed, it was just a vocal take over the early stages of a beat - but due to the reach of the Stretch and Bobbito shows it has become a cult indie anthem.
The evolution of the crew is a short-lived one. All four artists grew up in the Castle Hill/Soundview area of the Bronx. They started making tracks on a basic home studio set-up consisting of an MPC60 and a borrowed keyboard. They recorded the first and only official single at Database Studios in the Bronx - and as quickly as it started it was over. The next release was never fully pressed and the group split up to pursue their own careers mostly outside of the music industry. DJ Rob Dinero went on to work with Big L and
actually recorded the vocals for 'Flamboyant', 'Platinum Plus' and 'The Games', which were taken from one of many mix tapes that he dropped throughout the 90s. He was not credited for 'Platinum Plus' and 'The
Games' and there seems to have been some trickery involved in obtaining these vocal tracks which Rob certainly didn't want to extrapolate on - but after much prodding he revealed that a certain record label used some very dubious tactics to obtain the masters at a very 'reasonable' price. Rob had been working with Big L right up to his tragic death in 1999, preparing the DATs for his live sets, most notably the bootlegged Live From Amsterdam 1998 show.
And that's it! 300 12"'s with hand-sprayed covers, 5-10 test pressings, a small number of promo cassettes and a rough demo tape that got played by Stretch and Bobbito. So why has the TP consistently reached 800 dollars at auction and why does the Aiello Wilson 12" sell for an average of £200 on Discogs? Check it out yo!
Chopped Herring Records has obtained the original studio masters of 'Black Soil' which appeared on the 12", 'Black Caesar' which appeared on the b-side of the TP, a recording of the original demo tape and 3 unreleased/never before heard joints from the vaults. Peep the info!!
Tracks:
A1 Aiello Wilson - Black Soil feat. N.B.A
A2 N.B.A. - Black Caesar
A3 N.B.A. - Nobody Can Save U
B1 Aiello Wilson - 80 Proof Rhymes (Cassette Version)
B2 N.B.A. - NY Kings feat. Aiello Wilson
B3 N.B.A. - The Gamble Pt 2

Oh shit, didn't see that comin... Pockets are flat but what bugs me the most is the fact that we get 2-3 boring tracks instead of NBA Live '97 or a couple of instrumentals

More VOX JOINT is better...maybe an extra instrumental edition for the beat heads...and if you cop both it's cheaper...

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but what a shame the loss of the VA forums. Sure it was filled with uppity borks, but it was a timecapsule of alot of info that you can't find anywhere else...all those label scans, catalog info, runout groove nerdy. Shame...CrimeFamily wrote:i remember when he said it was 10 times better than black soil...diggy64 wrote:Real dope to have 80 Proof Rhymes on wax. Finally!

Re: All New Limited/Re-Issued Releases (post them here)
Blunted Astronaut Records & DSC present:
Propo'88 & Kick Back, talented beatsmiths from the production team of Da Shogunz.
Propo & Kick Back grew up listening to underground Hip-Hop. As they got older, they started to get influenced by the culture as a whole and began creating music themselves, currently for Da Shogunz.
Da Shogunz are a European Hip-Hop crew based in the Netherlands.
At present, the crew includes: 2 MC's (BlabberMouf and Corown Da Sensei aka CDS) and 4 producers (Propo'88, Truffel The Phunky Phaqir, DJ Realize and Kick Back, who moved from Canada to Holland to become part of the group).
Da Shogunz, along with Het Verzet are the elite of underground Hip-Hop movement in Holland. With each member of the group contributing their unique style, together they form a strong foundation for boom-bap's inevitable revival.
This 12” record is comprised of instrumentals and vocal tracks created in traditional ways of Hip-Hop production, reminiscent of the times when the culture thrived.
It features MC's the duo has worked with in and outside of Da Shogunz. The vocal section is blessed by BlabberMouf, EllMatic & RawBerry from Holland, Simple One & Mr.Nylson from Germany, K Banger from the US, and Self from Canada. On the B-side there are six exclusive instrumental head-nodders.
In a time where mediocrity and corporate interference overflow the music industry, one should admire Propo's and Kick Back's dedication to being true to the culture, and to listeners worldwide.
It's the finest of cosmic boom-bap...

Yeah, CHNE002 would be dope.
Great news from Dope Folks: "We let the cat out of the bag on our Facebook page, but if you haven't heard, our 22 release is "THE FUNKY ONE LINER EP" by OMNISCIENCE!!! Along with OMNISCIENCE, we are releasing the LASTRAWZE "INSTRAWMENTAL PT. 1" EP!!! (PT. 2 will be coming soon) Both OMNISCIENCE and LASTRAWZE will be limited to 300 copies for the standard DOPE FOLKS price of $20. Stay tuned for more details and pre-order information for these 2 heavy hitters!!!"
Not bad for those of us who never had a chance to get a copy of this nice EP.

Lastrawze is a superb choice of release! Incredibly under rated album. Wonder if the sound will be cleaned up though as the CD sounded pretty murky in places.Kool Max Power wrote:Yeah, CHNE002 would be dope.
