Hardest ever DJ Premier beat?

Post by Jaz »

Image

There are defintely a lot of them, but these 3 are quite possibly the hardest Premo has ever made.

Blaq Poet-Bang Dis

Hard as hell beat, sinister as hell organ and horn and Po rips it...gutter shit.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/oqoTqWFwbVU?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/oqoTqWFwbVU?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

MOP ft. Kool G Rap - Stick To Ya Gunz

MOP and G Rap tear the frame out of this hardcore Premo beat...this is music to get rowdy as hell too...

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6t5sfCpX5V4?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6t5sfCpX5V4?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Big Shug-On The Record

Hard drums and a dope as hell and crazy Funkadelic guitar sample, Shug murders the track, one of my fave ever performances from him.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/O9Gtix_E3lg?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/O9Gtix_E3lg?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

what are yours?

agree with u on Bang Dis. Shit is sinister as hell. Not so sure about On the Record though. Tough to pick out favorite hardest primo beats, but some that come to mind:

sauce money - against the grain
krs - outta here, mcs act like they don't know
mop - ante up (kinda annoying to listen to now, but since we're just talkin about hard beats..)
handle ur biz (remix)

"Against The Grain" is dope but it's more laid back
"Ante Up" is not a Premo beat that was DR Period.
"Handle Ur Biz (Remix)" oh hell yeah
"Breakin The Rules"
"New Jack City"
"Firing Squad"

and of course the hard as hell "Stick 2 Ya Gunz" actually that is harder than the Big Shug come to think of it.

It sounds like Bumpy's mic blows up and distorts on this banger.

Hardest as in obscure? Or just a straight banging Premier beat?

Here's two, both fit the criteria, plus with such a dope MC rhyming over beats like these, need to say no more...

I dont know about all that, but the Freaky Flow remix is one of my favorites and might fit your criteria. Even though it's a simple beat, Ed's smooth ass flow works extremely well over the track. Just some classic head nodding shit

Why would you want to tackle a tight jeans wearing fruitcake? Sounds pretty gay.

Yeah, probably because they must of heard it a million times on the GTA IV soundtrack haha...on the radio that plays the Hip Hop classics. Nah, i'm not sure if i would go for a Jeru record, Group Homes "Livin proof" had way much more impact, being from Premier of course...

I'd go with that. My bad on "Ante Up", didn't know why I thought that was produced by Primo. Sure sounds like Primo could've produced it though, ha.

In terms of Primo's hardest ALBUM, it's gotta be Firing Squad, no? What's your hardest Primo-produced album?

Jeru's "D'Original" immediately came to mind - piano is so dissonant and crazy

also

Gangstarr - "Alongwaytogo" - so intense especially in headphones

Group Home - "Tha Realness" - flipped the Bob James "Night On Bald Mountain" intro, shit is straight evil
