I'm not sign up for the T.R.O.Y. blog, but i'ma say this...i'm glad i've kept insisting on Freedom of Soul, when i've uploaded their album here on the forum, they are really slept-on. It's also nice to see Eshams version included..now about the Roy Ayers topic, well i think there's always been some misconceptions about the Roy Ayers version and the original version from the group RAMP of "Everybody love's the sunshine", in the sense of "where did the sample came from"...but i just want to add to that list/poll some names...

sorry, completely missed the feedback portion on that blog entry. there is ONE other song that i vaguely remember that flipped the same sample. all i can remember is the familiar piano loop and the words "my life, my life in the sunshine." i've noticed some other tracks listed have this but it's not as nice as the song that i heard using the sample.

Yes, my bad for that, RAMP made the cover of Roy Ayers original version for "Everybody love's the sunshine"...but it's a fact that RAMPS version has also been sampled a whole lot, for example by Brainsick Mob or even Aphrodelics (from Germany)...

Great intro sampled for a nice Brainsick joint, word.Mr. J Selectah wrote:RAMPS version has also been sampled a whole lot, for example by Brainsick Mob

RAMP and Roy Ayers were indeed affiliated, Roy produced their one and only album along with Edwin Birdsong and William Allen.
Good shit, Teddy.

Indeed. RAMP stands for Roy Ayers Music Production. The LP "Come into knowledge" is a milestone, like other great Roy Ayers productions and LPs.Verge wrote: RAMP and Roy Ayers were indeed affiliated, Roy produced their one and only album along with Edwin Birdsong and William Allen.
I prefer more the RAMP version of "Everybody loves the sunshine".
thats what I thought by Wiki suggests otherwise

either way, Sunshine is an amazing record. I saw Roy Ayers perform it live this past summer - a real goosebumps spine-tingling moment.RAMP was an American soul/jazz band from Cincinnati, Ohio.[1] RAMP has mistakenly been said to stand for "Roy Ayers Music Production" and "Roy Ayers Music Project", but Ayers was not a member, though he did write and produce songs on their debut album.

Suncebeat festival in Croatia (:bork:)
He did 'We Live In Brooklyn Baby' aswell. I was standing next to Mr Thing at the time. Couldnt help wishing he'd have bought Smif N Wessun or E Rule out on stage

Word. These and "Searching", "The Memory", and so many other classic joints. I wonder who his back up singers are now and if they sound similar to his old ones. Those chicks had such a smooth soulful sound together.Thun wrote:I need to see these songs performed before this guy dies.step one wrote:Suncebeat festival in Croatia (:bork:)

Was RAMP composed of some of his back up singers, anyone?
