instrumental used on Stretch and Bob show

Post by quicksmack »

I need some help identifying the instrumentals used on 2 Stretch and Bobbito shows.. I've included short clips from the shows below...

One is from a show with DJ Premier in '97...
<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="audioUrl=http://crippledcactus.com/premier.mp3" src="http://www.google.com/reader/ui/3523697 ... player.swf" width="400" height="27" quality="best"></embed>

another is from a show with Quincy Jones in '94...
<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="audioUrl=http://crippledcactus.com/quincy.mp3" src="http://www.google.com/reader/ui/3523697 ... player.swf" width="400" height="27" quality="best"></embed>

would be really cool if someone could help me out with these... thanks!

Second one is De La's Stakes Is High, unless it's a trick question?

Was that out in 94?
Kool Keith: I wore a straw hat with a feather to the last Source Awards. When I got to Madison Square Garden everybody was looking at me. When I got back home I seen everybody and their mother in their video wearing a fuckinג€™ straw hat with a feather in it.

Tim Dog: ג€œWhat Kool Keith gonna wear? Iג€™m gonna do that shit in my video. Iג€™m gonna wear that shit really quick. Whatג€™s Tim Dog gonna wear?ג€

Premier used to just sneak in unreleased instrumentals like that on his own show at WBLS and if he was filling in for Stretch on Hot 97. I'm sure those will remain a mystery unless he decides to release them commercially.

The Premier one is Mr. Complex's Why Don't Cha.

Also, shadowmaster is correct. The Quincy Jones show was in 96.

Does anyone know the Labelle track Bobbito used to play on the show?

He said it's like his favorite soul track ever.

I believe Why Don't Cha is a Spinna joint.
