Out of the above I'd say Nas' Memory Lane is my favorite but my all time favorite is T.R.O.Y. by Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth. T.R.O.Y. is not one of those songs which is an obvious dedication to "back in the days", instead it's a great personal depiction of one person's past family and life experiences which many people can relate to. T.R.O.Y. touches upon the emotions with vivid detail by describing one MC's journey of life through a collage of the most treasured moments of a family upbringing like no other song in Hip Hop.

Wu Tang-Can It Be All So Simple

T.R.O.Y-definitely agree, the last verse is my fave
Kool Keith: I wore a straw hat with a feather to the last Source Awards. When I got to Madison Square Garden everybody was looking at me. When I got back home I seen everybody and their mother in their video wearing a fuckinג€™ straw hat with a feather in it.

Tim Dog: ג€œWhat Kool Keith gonna wear? Iג€™m gonna do that shit in my video. Iג€™m gonna wear that shit really quick. Whatג€™s Tim Dog gonna wear?ג€

You seem awfully confident that such a song has not yet been recorded.

^This list is basically it for me, I think most people have an era that defined their view of best back in the day songs, this one is mine.

There's a few other songs here and there that I remember, I guess they can help to go with the next volume if they fit:

Pharcyde - Passin' Me By is classic for that time you remember the feeling of liking an older female at a young age

Adagio! - My Girl, same idea as Passin' Me By but flipped toward the perspective of falling in love with you're first piece of pro audio gear

RZA - See The Joy, I know some people find B.O.A.P. hit or miss but I always thought that song was very creative as RZA takes you back to the day you were a single cell on a dramatic ride from the womb into birth.

Ice Cube - The Product has about the same idea as See The Joy but is more frantic and puts you into the perspective of an fetus grown into an adult young black male in the ghetto.

Ghostface Killah - Child's Play has great visuals that bring about the unique charm of grade school and childhood.

Gangstarr - Jazz Thing one of the best homages to another era of music by Hip Hop.

Gravediggaz - The Night The Earth Cried is one of my favorite songs about slavery, chilling images and emotion throughout the song.

KRS-One - You Must Learn, simply is one of the most powerful and inspirational songs I've ever heard, whenever I think of the term "droppin' science" this song is it. I don't think there has been an MC who could rhyme better about history like KRS since.

I know this is a bass/early southern song but it was truly one of those "You had to be there" joints. They went in detail about the music scene in Miami and Orlando and Atlanta. Dru'Major's verse about early ATL shit almost made me shed a tear.

We could probably go three or four volumes on this. Maybe we should get some artwork and make it official?

since the RZA and Ice Cube joints about being an infant has been mentioned don't forget NaS's "Fetus" and Organized Konfusion's "Inverto".

Wu's "Can It Be All So Simple" and "C.R.E.A.M.", "All That I Got Is You" (which were already mentioned but still). i remember there's a few good ones on the first Intelligent Hoodlum album.

Some of you are not very good at understanding what a song is actually about.

My favorite back in the day joint has to be "Memory Lane" by Nas. It's one of those songs you can listen to again and again and again. One of the illest beats I ever heard.
