Huge Biz Markie fan, but Kane by a mile.

In fact, I rate both albums extremely highly, but still Kane's is the better for me.

Biz's has the better beats, quite easily. It wins.

Nobody beats the Biz.

Kane's debut is obviously a classic and Kane is technically a better rapper than Biz - I mean, Kane wrote Biz' verses FFS - but Biz had the better beats (word to Thun), funnier subject matter, and overall better execution, just making it a more enjoyable listen, IMO.

Plus, "Pickin' Boogers" and "Vapors" are just fucking awesome.

From those opening chords by Leo Nocentelli melting into reverb to the "Whatchoogonsaynow?" "PEACE", I'm hooked.

BDK in the lead, both had great beats but I'm with Thun Biz's album does have better beats and would be my chosen album if it did not have the cheesy ballad.

No fair!

These albums are so part of my childhood.

Man, I like the Biz beats better, however, after reading several interviews where Biz stated Kane wrote most his raps for him.

I gotta roll with Big Daddy Kane.

That hurt...

Virtually nobody in this forum listens to any black American rappers from prior to 1992, though, so I'm guessing that plenty of votes are straight up lies.

I dunno, too many classic lines/verses on the Kane album. I'm more of a beat dude though and would probably give more listens to Biz nowadays since a lot of joints on the Kane album were overplayed to death back then.
It's like every single "old school" mix ever has at least a joint or two from that Kane album on it. Reminds how I would be happy if I never ever heard South Bronx and The Bridge Is Over again in my life.

he never made an album that completely matched his abilities as a rapper. (for me he's a top 10 rapper and should easily make it into a top 20 from anyone) - but he doesnt have an album that i would rate that high but i think he still made some good albums and this is probably his best.

with songs like
long live
raw
set it off
and aint no half steppin

don't see how anybody can hate on the produciton

i know alot of what you say is probably hyperbole and TROY is definitely mid nineties oriented but this is still a strange statement to me

or even top 75-100

no one can or should ever front on bdk skills as an emcee...because he was incredible...but for whatever reason that never translasted itself into any great full lengths....it really is one of the great mysteries of hip hop

Long Live The Kane easily top 10 for me. Probably a generational thing, altho I have absolutely no evidence to back that up

I voted for Kane also. Long Live The Kane needs one of those deluxe 2CD reissues.
