The Midnight Eez EP: From the 90's or recent?

1995/1996 remastered demo from unknown Bronx duo called the Midnight Eez..any further info on this pair get in touch!
So this is how the story goes.. A long long time ago in a galaxy far away, that is to say pre-internet, 1995 or 1996 to be not very exact, All City co-founder Splyce found himself on one of his regular record buying sojourns to New York. Approached outside the Fat Beats store by two guys who had heard he was a DJ from out of town and were eager to spread word of their production work outside their homeland, he was given a mix tape demo of their beats. Named The Midnight Eez, from the Bronx, they were one of thousands of budding production units on Manhattan Island. The tape came only with a name and pager number, which hardly surprisingly now goes unanswered in 2011, but after relocating that same tape in a recent house move, in the spirit of musical altruism we have decided to give it the proper vinyl release it deserves. Hopefully this release will see The Midnite Eez them get some belated but deserved shine. Tracklisting is precisely as per the original cassette, with 30 minutes of hip hop music over the two sides..

Yeah, I don't believe this story at all. When i first heard it my immediate thought was that it's almost too well produced, sounds like a dope 90's style producer making beats in this century. Certain elements reminded me a bit of Madlib, like the extra long rap vocal samples and shit. Cats were not doing that too often, if at all, in the 90's. There were some other things i noticed but can't remember now. I'm basing this on what i remember from when i listened a few months ago though, so i could be way wrong.

Thanks for the reminder about this one though, Kell, I'ma give it another listen tonight cause i did indeed enjoy the hell out of it. Also I didn't realize it hit vinyl so again, thanks man.

I was wrong about the extra long rap vocal samples, there's none there, maybe it was the vocal sample placement or some shit. Still some of these remind me of Madlib. Never know, maybe it is really what they say it is. I wouldn't bet on it though.

I always thought it was to clean and crispy for a early 90's release.... espesh if it never left a tape.
Thought id post it up with the story non-the less .
& yeah they label its on is a bit odd i thought as well .
Probably going to see alot more of this "attempt", after Chopped Herring reveal what really went on with the 2010 Grymm Teachaz release .

Sounds late 90s (latenite eez?) at the earliest. Plus, what outfit's gonna name themselves after the time period they made music? Not credible.
