The intro is pretty funny with the combination of LL laughing hysterically and his anger toward Wyclef. A lot of funny punchlines by LL throughout the song too, it's still hard to believe how emotional he got over the whole battle at the time. The vinyl pressing I have of this song is on a white label compilation from Hot 97.

yeah I've got that Hot 97 bootleg aswell. Picked up the 12" I uploaded at the weekend, quality is slightly better but still has the crackle throughout the track.
Kind of funny how Canibus went with a full single and video and paid for a Mike Tyson cameo on Second Round KO while LL's responses were just promo only/underground joints.

Thanks Jaz, I haven't watched yet but I did read elsewhere a while back that cats used to clown on Rakim's rhymes before he blew up.

Chocolate Tye (Shadez of Brooklyn) Xxclusive

Post by Statikmatik »

We took time out to catch up with Chocolate Tye - former member & one of the founders of the Shadez of Brooklyn crew. True Hip Hop in the building! Stand Up!!

<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/B_QzZQCs7VE?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/B_QzZQCs7VE?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

So Tye, heads will know you best from your work with DA BEATMINERZ & of course SHADEZ OF BROOKLYN. How did you become affiliated with these two legendary crews?

When it comes to Da Beatminerz I grew up with Evil Dee and Mr. Walt. We lived in the same neighborhood Bushwick, Brooklyn - actually right around the corner from each other. What's funny was my sister went to school with Mr. Walt and up until high school me and Evil Dee went to the same schools. So we were childhood friends - Bushwick was not a large part of Brooklyn so we always hung with each other, sitting on the stoop or bullshitting in Irving Sq. Park.

E and Walt were always into music, E worked at a record shop and Walt worked at a record shop. I would walk to where they worked and just hang out, talk music and buy records.. (read on)

one of the songs in lord finesse's Signature 7" series on Slice-Of-Spice (which is 7 7" singles with previously unreleased or at the least very rare material) is a DJ Premier produced demo from 1989. initiated for the masterpiece "Funky Technician". check out the snippet and read the info at DJ Premier Blog.
