@itzmurda, that's a shame to hear the story about tapemasta. If people have a good collection, knowledge and inspiration they should be generous about sharing it, which is what I enjoy doing for those who'll listen.
For rare tapes you and IRISH CRAIG should get in touch with this guy who I worked with briefly in the early 2000's. He's responsible for starting the sales of mixtapes in New York but his store has been closed for a few years now. I haven't spoke to him since but I would expect him to have a good stash of mixtapes above most people in NY besides the DJs:
Tapemasta is just a guy that was in the right place at the right time. He has a stack of tapes and good on him. The 1/2 a tape thing is a proper wind-up, its mixtape foreplay for fucks sake. I dont agree with the sale of them, but if I was minted, I'd want in, and I know thats hypocritical of me. I'd sell WAVs of my mixtape collection if I didnt let my conscience rule me but then again, how much would I or anyone else charge if everyone just started doin it?
He put up another 3 sides of 90 minute radio tapes last week, one Marley Marl mastermix from 87/88 [HEAT], and two mixed ones of Chuck Chillout and DNA and some other gear. I love findin gems on those, but 25$ is mattress money for a mixtape. He's round-the-way, but he's just the nutty music uncle from round-the-way IMO, harmless. Even at 25$ a shot, thats crazy expensive. He doesnt seem like the kinda guy to haggle. TM has no inclination towards progressive communications, he's just embedded in his world and thinks everyone else readin his blog should be too.
People are welcome to do what they want with what they own. I'm just happy that things get shared and listened to. Tape mastah has done lots of sharing. Lots of people say they have this or that but never share. I'm happy to just get a side - better than nothing. I share loads of tapes and half the fuckers don't say thanks just request more and more! I have ron g tapes but the enthusiasm to rip 'em is pretty low, admittedly. I think for most people they are pretty throw away, they hunt out any 'rare tracks' then dump the tape. I haven't listened to an album in years, all I listen to is mixtapes!

For what it's worth, your ripping efforts is much appreciated. Your tapes are in constant rotation in my car and portable media player.
