Thanks for making this thread, he was definitely part of my memories growing up in Harlem. I've got a short documentary from 1992 which shows the inside of his apartment while he records a mixtape for the camera, I will digitize and upload it soon. I've been looking for a copy of his Gangsta Shit series, hopefully somebody comes through with a tape.

I remember it was from the year of 1992. I can't remember much of what was spun on the mixtape but I DO remember the mixtape well because of the time in life I bought it.

@Fortuna, YES INDEED !! Top man, real appreciated fella. The thing I always admired was his energy, he always had great ideas, he may have been rough round the edges but that was endearing, he executed them well enough to make sick tapes and even though every mixtape sounded like it was recorded inside a bin, I didnt care, it was Ron G. 'Go Ron, Go Ron' on that old MTV clip was classic, anyone know if that record store was the Tape Kingz spot in Flatbush ? Think I might have to rock my Tape Kingz tee today !

@Step, nice one for the links

A Ron G book?

Ha, that one from ThaReallest (who is on here as well as the BigLOnline forums) came from my (horrible) DVD rip. Hopefully Ron still has more L material in his vault.

A cursory search didn't find tape five, six, thirteen or fourteen though.

Ah.. thanx for the effort anyway. Looked everywere myself for these volumes on the web, hoped someone might have 'em on their pc

@IRISH_CRAIG: yep, an audio one:

Snippet of an Autobiographical audiobook by the mixtape pioneer Ron G. Talks about getting started, being inspired by Brucie B and Kid Capri and making his early blend tapes as teenager. Looking forward to hearing in its entirety. http://www.divshare.com/download/9797343-094

Holy Axel Foley, this is nuts !

Some great sound-bites and a great address from Ronny ['Little disco in my room, disco light'/ 'Go to school, take Martial Arts'... I wonder if a full version has ever made it to an actual release.

Regardless, really appreciate this Fortuna, top man

#YESINDEED !

Thanks for the info Brandan, its a great clip, hits all the right notes for me

The more I see of Fred in those environs, the less I like his clown-ass ways, Capri is still a g.o.d.

Talkin of Capri, you seen the interview with 45 King, the King is even takin advice from YTers on levels, profanity etc, who knew he'd listen, hehe

Shouts to Fortuna for the 92 tape too, much appreciated, anyone holdin SIDE B of that cassette ? That Tapemasta sure has a workable business model. I wonder how many people pay out for Side B of a mixtape in this age http://classicmixtapes.blogspot.com/

He says he sends MP3s "$25.00 per tape, straight from the master tape". Im dubious of all those being 'MASTER' tapes. Youve seen his collection, how he has masters of all those is flaky and im suspicious of what he refers to as a MASTER

Has the RON G audio-book ever surfaced in its entirety, its somethin worth listenin to im sure, that brief clip is like some kinda mixtape foreplay to me http://goo.gl/fQ9RN

HNY fellas

There are many Ron G.'s tapes on my blog: http://djmarioka.blogspot.com. The blog of classic mixtapes (http://classicmixtapes.blogspot.com), is from my man Tapemasta, he has the largest mixtape collection of Planet Earth, all classic tapes, all real DJ's, I've been at his house in East New York, Brooklyn. I had a lot of respect for him, he's a legend on the mixtape game.
