New and Upcoming Hip Hop Films and Docs

Post by kevin beacham »

I feel like their have been a decent amount of talk/trailers for New/Upcoming Hip Hop films and documentaries. I'm starting to lose track. Has anyone seen any of these below or know of any others??

-Pop Art Label Documentary
-Mikey D Documentary
-Rumble Kings (Bronx Gangs Documentary)
-Street Photographer (Charlie Ahearn Doc on Jamel Shabazz)
-Brooklyn Hip Hop Documentary: Forgot what this was called but it
was a film claiming to be doing "hip hop" earlier and/or same time
as the Bronx???

While we are at it, what happened to the T La Rock movie and the Juice Crew Movie...I could have predicted they would never come to be... Any other stories like that come to mind???

Maybe this is a separate flick about BK but there's this one about Queens co-directed by TKO's Amen Ra that seems to be making the same claim:

Go here for an interview- http://www.egotripland.com/qa-hassan-po ... g-fathers/

It played in Harlem and Queens but unfortunately I missed both screenings.

Thank's Kev for the heads up,i'll be on the lookout for all of those.

Also,i'd like to know whatever happened to the Marley Marl WBLS dvd that was "Supposed" to drop almost 2 years ago.

There's a trailer on YOUTUBE but i'm not very good at embedding.

Basically it was a lot of footage shot in 89/90 from Marley Marl's "In Control" show on WBLS with Pete Rock and Kevvy Kev.

^Very mad this hasn't been released.

Probably some old geezer's up at BLS holding it back from being released.

Yeah, I remember that BLS thing. I'd like to see that.

Illest: do you know what the hold up is? Has Marley spoken about it publicly?

lazy.....he has everything that hes not involved (see kdef) or involved in.

he has every incontrol, pirate radio and futureflavas show archived. most of these were done at his house.

i dont think he cares to put the dvd out. because he would of already.

Yeah, he even has good outlet to get a little quick money from his archives with Hot CHillin but he hasn't seemed to motivate it at all.
Not sure what the deal with the dvd is, but i wouldn't doubt that illest is right, lol.

Thanks for askin'. Jewlz the Director, who was friends with L since childhood and helped document his entire career, is pretty much doing this single handedly on some D.I.Y. shit, so it's takin' a sec.

And there's been some issues in the cutting room since there is easily over ten hours of footage that needs to turn into a ninety minute movie (or at least has to fit on a single DVD) and before that we were waitin' on a few interviews, like Damon Dash for one, but Jewlz and L's brother Don are gonna try to get the DVD out sometime next year if they can.

It's mostly about finishing up the production and starting the post production marketing it now. Until the full thing drops, here are some semi recent additions:

Making of Mike Boogie's Me 'n Big L Video

What do you wanna know?

Also, what Pun doc? There's been two and already both have already dropped. Still Not a Player and The Legacy. I don't know anything about a third one.

I'd like to know more about the Freshco & Miz, Stretch & Bob and Tunnel ones as well. Haven't heard any more about those since they were first announced.

As far as the Juice Crew one, I doubt it'll happen. You guys are talkin' about this, right?:

Then there's the supposed N.W.A. and Tupac biopics. And I know I'm forgettin' a couple other documentaries as well.

I know pretty much everything there is to know about the L doc, I already made a post about it in this thread before you posted. If there's anything in specific you wanna know, just ask.

What happened to Wu Tang Revealed? It's probably never coming out, right?
Kool Keith: I wore a straw hat with a feather to the last Source Awards. When I got to Madison Square Garden everybody was looking at me. When I got back home I seen everybody and their mother in their video wearing a fuckinג€™ straw hat with a feather in it.

Tim Dog: ג€œWhat Kool Keith gonna wear? Iג€™m gonna do that shit in my video. Iג€™m gonna wear that shit really quick. Whatג€™s Tim Dog gonna wear?ג€
