No, only because that will open a floodgate. But don't let it stop ya from finishing the compilation. You can always post it like that and the voters can take into consideration how close to the rules each contender stays.

This is dope. FYI everyone, Architek didn't mention, this is a smooth blend all the way through.

I'd love to have the full mp3s of each of these instrumentals but this is a really dope listen as a whole too.

Well damn, its tough to pick the tracks like this, lol. When i start going through 80s stuff i wanna do a full comp of them alone, tough picking which two since ive pretty much already gotten my vibe of what im going for set already.

A heads up to everyone:
After the challenge and voting is over, feel free to post your own comps with no rules. Just if you feel like it im sayin, if you think you can put together some nice beat comps that would flow and fit on a cd, feel free, but after the voting starts and ends.

Shit i only got 2 and a half hours and im watching this football game, hah.

All tracks of my mixed compilation used to be around on the net but after the dawn of a new era we're facing, who knows... I'm willing to upload an unmixed version after the voting ends (unless it's ok to do it now, Verge?), maybe a folder with all the 12''s involved.

Props to all the competitors & to Verge for struggling with himself even if he got defeated in the end!

Lol.. props. Yeah you could post an extra compilation with just the tracks unmixed, that'd be fine cause some people might want the full tracks separate even though you did pretty perfect with it.
and like you said, who knows if a lot of them are even accessible online anymore now.

Ha, exactly the same thing man, mad dubs! Couldn't find a real instrumental for quite a few joints from then. Then when i thought i was finishing the comp up last night i realized my "south" joint had a full annoying hook and mad ad libs, lol.

Hey, since we got only 3 submissions and sleazy j just put one up, wanna push this another few days or til next sunday night?
Or you guys wanna close it down now and start voting?
It's on you guys, I'm cool either way. It's just i don't want any of you 3 guys who submitted comps on time to feel slighted in any way if we keep it going.

Let me know asap and I'll either lock this and open voting or extend.

^Yeah me too hopefully.

Props on Sleazy J's mix too, that shit's tight. If possible, a split track compilation would be a plus but we never mentioned in the rules whether it had to be mixed or split so no worries either way. But yeah, compilations are usually the norm for these challenges but mixes are great, imo.

Well, I gave it a shot, hope at the very least that someone enjoys it and finds at least one track they like that they never heard before.

Props to the other contestants. This shit was no joke.

FTR, I did put most of the tracks through audacity to amplify them and try to have them all be at a similar sound level so most of them say 320 when they might not actually be that. My lame encoder outputs at 320 so yeah, thats why. For those with dj wicked type standards, yes some tracks here came ripped straight from my own vinyl, not a lot though.

thats a cool compilation Verge. its funny that the rules were hard to follow through even for yourself. but i think it made it really a challenge and interesting to compile and also to listen to.

technically the whodini joint is too old (you said 86-96) but it doesnt matter imo

:ohsh:  thanks, I had it in my brain that it was pre 1990, completely forgot i said 86-96.
Its all good though, I really love that beat from hearing it over and over on Ralph McDaniels Video Music Box. I think it was the outro music so i thought it was fitting.

I'm thinking we do one more week from tonight and i think we'll get a couple more entries and even if not we'll call it a wrap and start the voting thread.

Nice selections Verge, never realized how dope "One Life To Live" is. It's probably been too outshined by "2 Deadly Sins" in my mind.

Actually it's '86-'98. 86->(180 degrees)->98 :killacam:
We should call it a marathon instead of a challenge from now on. This thing is getting so old that even the man who set the rules forgot em, ha ha... You know who's to blame for the lack of entries right?

its all good. would have escaped me if i myself hadn't planned to include a track from 84 and then changed it uon realizing.

and the marathon is a good idea. because imo the focus ain't on the voting a winner part
