Here is what I think, because they say DJ Premier or World Premier and the jazz piano sample is the same one that Premo used for Gang Starr "Jazz Music" that someone at Delicious Vinyl got mistaken and listed it as a DJ Premier remix.

I still would like to know who does the cuts on "Saturday Night Live".

DJ Premier had NOTHIN to do with that song in any way. I forget, but it was a couple of years ago where someone did a write-up on a Blog about it or somethin.

I swear I remember reading that they actually meant the name to be literal (ex: the premier DJ mix).

If I'm right, I asked the same question earlier this year, and I think it was more of a statement like "DJ Premiere" (Regarding the Saturday Night live theme of the track) and not the alias of Chris Martin... But what bothers me still is the fact that this beat REALLY does sound like a vintage Preemo beat from the early-90's... And the cuts definitely sound like something he would do.
But since Preemo became a household name around 92/93, I don't see any good reason why Ase One would have fucked the credits up instead of using his recent fame to help the album push more units.

Ase had NOTHIN to do with those credits... that was the dumbfucks over at Delicious Vinyl back in 2004 when that re-issue 12" came out.

word but DJ Premier is known as DJ Premiere at times though, yeah it does sound like a DJ Premier beat and the cuts sound like him as well, can someone ask Premo on Twitter or something?

The only time Premier becomes "Premiere" is when it's some overseas clown who can't spell. Well, typically. I noticed on Da Ranjahz "Insp.Her.Ation" 12-inch back in '03 or so that it was spelled that way too.

And Jaz, there's not really a point to ask Preem when it's already been established a while ago that the so-called Premier Remix was actually a LA Jay Remix... Premier had nothing to do with that record. Why don't you call up his radio show on Friday and ask... 1-877-604-4746, his show is on 7-9pm PST (10pm-12am EST). It's actually really easy to get through... I'm on the air with Preem and Panchi (of NYG'z) all the time.

I agree for the Ase part, but do you really think the folks at Delicious Vinyl would have screwed the credits for this particular track if they had the budget to buy a Preemo beat? lol
As far as I can remember back in 93, D.V. was struggling as a label to stay afloat, and except for The Pharcyde the previous year, none of their Rap projects made any real noise on the charts.
A Preemo-produced track would have brought more attention to "Slaughtahouse", that's why I still doubt he was involved in the making of this song because there is NO good reason not to give him credit in this particular case.
But damn... Why does it sound so much like something he could have produced? Even the cuts sound like what he usually does? And this "DJ Premier" shout at the beginning still bothers me to this day.

When I meant "DJ Premiere", it was in the same way as "World Premiere" for example... Based on the song's concept, it could make sense.

I don't know what's your problem with foreigners, but judging by the high number of times I've seen his name spelled "DJ Premiere" in CD booklets throughout these past 20 years, I guess U.S. record labels must hire a lot of overseas folks to write down their albums credits.

I'm almost certain "DJ Premier" is said because he did the cuts. It's said on the original record right before the scratches, not just on the LA Jay remix.

As for him being called "DJ Premiere," he's credited as such on Kanye's "Everything I Am." It's a likely mistake that calls back to the golden age of Hip-Hop.

This. All reports at the time, and since, said DJ Premier had nothing to do with the record, and that Delicious Vinyl made a mistake with the credits.

word, I didn't realize they/she worked with Ramsey, who's also a great act obviously. I've been back on a Rotary kick lately though, their whole catalog, there's just something about that sound they had. It's like heavenly and serene but funky too, I could never properly describe their music without feeling like I'm doing it an injustice, lol. Just great stuff, especially for the warm weather.
