Megaupload shutdown (upd8: Fileserve generates a new spine)

Post by Jaz »

As you all may be aware, Megaupload has been shut down by the feds...meaning hundreds of links in TROY have now gone.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/20/techn ... .html?_r=1

Let's all get our heads together and try our best to replace any links we are able to and particularly ones that are requested by our regular members.

RIP Megaupload.

Question begs, which will be next? Rapidshare, Zshare...?

^Yeah, we all know megaupload was just the first strike. What can we do except keep uploading until they get rid of all of them? I'll try to help out as much as I can with the SnB tapes

I use Mutliupload or Mirrorcreator now. They both take your file and distribute it to several free file hosting sites at the same time, so if one link goes down there are several others available.

This Kim "Dotcom" Schmitz character is known for shady cyber bizness from way back in the 90ties (check his wiki article) and they also never really took down the copyright infringing files if they got a takedown request..
but read it all here

Maybe they'll try to get multiupload to sell everyone else up the river.

yeah, I think Multiupload is the best as you can link a bunch of others like Deposit File, Fileshare, Badango etc.

Yeah plus you had these fags (kanye west, swiss beats) doing that megaupload rap video, which really pissed UMG off and is probably the main thing that got them shut down, im thinking. I don't think the other sites are gonna get taken down any time soon... unless that SOPA shit or whatever disguise they give it will pass, then shits over officially. So until then i think the other sites are fairly safe, i hope.

Not to sound self absorbed, but i had a huge amount of the links from the TROY blog backed up on megaupload from when the TROY blog got shut down that time and went to wordpress. I also had a ton of my own links on there, it was my main spot. Through the past few years, i had memberships at about 5 or 6 different file sharers but mega was the only one i stayed with until now.

RIP to the best file share spot ever.

I wonder how schenectadyfan is taking this? If yall remember he ONLY used mega and he had every one of his compilations on there, including i believe hundreds of compilations he was yet to share.

not sure about anyone else but every time I've got something off multiupload the only download site it distributed to was megaupload. I just tried it again in the E-Rule discography thread and same thing happens. the only link showing after clicking the multiupload ones are to megaupload (which obviously doesn't work now)

Try scrolling down the multiupload page, that should do the trick. :gyeah:

Yeah, try one of the other site mirrors first.

And / or if you let me know what you are trying to grab I can re-up it as well.

And another good classic hh blog goes down...

Post by JankZ »

hqhiphop.net just deleted all posts because filesonic went same path as megaupload.

Sad... i bet this is the end of hh blogs era.
if something gets wrong wit olasunbekons.com (it already did went wrong bout 95%) and if i will have to delete all posts wit dead links, i want to say, that we classic headz have to stick together, maybe here, maybe sumwhere else, but we got to stick together.

Oh man, end of days alright...The best way around this is for the record companies to take their heads out of the clouds and wake up, USE these filesharing services with your artists and charge monthly fees or something...Anonymous is going to fuck up the Internet big time now, especially Government related sites.

yeah, honestly that was a sucker move on filesonic's behalf, but i guess i wouldn't chance going to prison either. These hqhiphop cats have made money for filesonic, they could have given them a few days warning to get as many files as they could from their accounts. Unless they were warned by the feds to immediately shut down or somethin, which i kind of doubt. I'm sticking to my story that the feds went after mega like that do to political pressure put on them through UMG because of the silly shit Kanye and siss beats were doin. I really don't think they're going after anyone else right now for a little while at least. Usually when the feds make a huge bust they fall back and relax for awhile, i mean these are american workers we're talking about.

Anyways gonna just merge this to the other thread.
