This is a Backwoodz/MIC project. It only has handful of songs featuring Czars, but Backwoodz has a similar aesthetic and I thought this would be a good place to put it-

@J_Preme: Go to your profile. Scroll down to preferences. You'll see a bunch of "Yes" or "No" options. Make sure you click "Yes" on "Always Allow HTML" and "Always allow BBCcode", I'm not sure which one but one of them is why you can only see code and no videos.
If the link that Da Me just posted still doesn't work for you, let me know and I'll make ya another one.

Here's another link to Bi-Polar, J_Preme, but it's still the same exact files. I don't have another rip at all. Maybe it'll work on divshare, maybe not:

They did a little reunion show in 2010 at an apartment in Brooklyn. Doom wasn't there, but as far as I know most of these other cats were. One member was a white kid wearing a Doom mask, and they said the beef was all squashed.

While there, I talked to Grimm about comic books. He's a big comic fan, recently released an autobiographical graphic novel on DC Vertigo, and his last album, "You Only Live Twice: The Audio Graphic Novel," featured cover art by comic book artist Jim Mahfood. Also, he's the first rapper to secure a distribution deal with Diamond Comic Distributors, which is the major comic distributor in the US.

Saw Junclassic at Yule Prog last year. He's been doing shit with Uncommon Records/Backwoodz Studioz I think. At least, he's appeared on a few of their recent comps.

so does Grimm now have two graphic novels? I had, but can't find anymore, the one called "Life Sentences" or something like that. I believe ThomasV had even posted a scan of it at the TROY blog a few years ago, lemme take a look...

Stilltown wrote:Itג€™s been a while since Iג€™ve done a post about an artist without Pittsburgh connections, but todayג€™s may be a start of more to come. By now, most hip-hop fans are familiar with the work of Daniel Dumille. When Zev Love X returned to the hip-hop scene as MF Doom, he was part of a New York crew known as the Monsta Island Czars. The most notable emcees included were street legend MF Grimm, Kwite Def, Arron, and Tommy Gunn. Production was handled by Doom and X-Ray da Mindbenda. Each member took a Godzilla-themed alias, Doom as King Ghidra, Grimm as Jet Jaguar, Kwite Def as Kamackeris, Arron as Rodan, Tommy Gunn as Megalon, X-Ray as King Ceaser, and newcomers Kong, Gigan, and Spiega.
The focus of this post is Spiega. His deep, distinctive voice and monotonous delivery make him a unique talent. Unlike many of the groups members, Spiega has yet to release a solo album. However, he made several contributions to Kongג€™s latest album, Shackles Off. Other ventures include his work on the Reaversג€™s album Terror Firma.
I brought these discreet and scattered appearances together for a ג€œbest ofג€ type album. Solo songs, group work, and guest features were included.
ג€œForgive them father, for they know not what they do.ג€ ג€“ Spiegaג€™s personal quote from the liner notes of the album Escape From Monsta Island!

Nah, just that one. Like I said, his last album is called You Only Live Twice: The Audio Graphic Novel. I woudln't be surprised to learn that he's working on another one though since the last was so well received and he's clearly a fan of the medium...

MeccaGodzilla now goes by Ryu Black. Last year, he dropped an album called Perfect Heaven. He's got a website: http://ryublack.com

<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OmcuG3c5a-w?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OmcuG3c5a-w?ve ... n_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

"METSU ANSATSUKEN [ 暗 殺 拳 ]ג€ is the 1st ever video from RYU BLACK. The Long Island Producer/MC, also known as MeccaGodZilla completed a successful Kickstarter campaign to create the ג€œHip Hoperaג€ style album titled ג€œPERFECT 天ג€ the RYU BLACK Musical. Filmed entirely in Japan by Tokyo skateboarder/street brand model Teddy ג€œVybe1″ Wilkins, the video is a tribute to the 20th Anniversary of the arcade smash hit, Streetfighter II. The video features Ruby Red, a Taiwanese choreographer who is well versed in urban dance and is currently introducing Jamaican dancehall dance and culture to her home country."

Never mind from the fact that the M.I.C. collective has had so many members; each of them has multiple monikers. If someone could put together a list of all the past/current members and their aliases that'd be helpful for people just now finding out about them.

Made that list a few years back, so a few additions are needed I guess:

"Old" M.I.C.-Crew (see the Escape from Monsta Island album):
- MF Doom aka King Geedorah aka King Ghidra aka The Super Villain aka Zev Love X aka Metal Fingers aka Viktor Vaughn (Daniel Dumile)
- MF Grimm aka GM Grimm aka Superstar Jet Jaguar (Percy Carey)
- Gigan
- Kamackeris aka K.D. aka Kwite Def
- King Cesar aka X-Ray aka GM Web D (Raymond Davis)
- Kong aka Kongcrete
- Spiega
- Megalon aka Tommy Gunn (Thomas N. Rollins)
- Rodan aka Dr. Moreau (A. Ford)

Without an appearance on the Escape from Monsta Island album:
- Lord Smog (he was described as a M.I.C. Member at the Special Herbs & Spices album)
- Wayne-O (was described as a M.I.C. member on MF Grimm's Scars & Memories) (W. Brown)
- Yves St. Larock (died years back)

"New" M.I.C.-members (most of them were describes as M.I.C. members on MF Grimm's American Hunger album):
- Junclassic aka Gabarah (L. Lewis) (I think he does not call himself still a member)
- Bahton da Invizabul Mang aka MF Bash aka Invisible Man (Sebastian Rosset) (I think he already left again)
- Meccagodzilla aka Ravage aka R.A.V.A.G.E. aka aka Restoring Artistic Vision And Growth Everywhere aka Ryu Black (M. Dottin)
- Destroyah aka MF Mez aka Mez (Juro Davis) (I think he left as well)
- Majesty aka Gamma-Ra (D. Sanchez) (I think he left as well)
- Monsta x aka Ntrospekt (K. Sise) (I think he left as well)
- 9th Scientist

member status not clarified (for me):
- Ray Long
- MF Goon aka Lordwillin
- Kurious aka Biolante (Jorge Alvarez)
- CX Kidtronik
- Subroc (Dingilizwe Dumile) (MF Doom's brother that already died, I would say he was just a part of KMD but not the M.I.C.)

To be honest: I don't remember anymore. I made the list a few years back for another message board and I guess that are infos I had from myspace-Bulletins or emails with M.I.C. affiliated Rappers. I did interviews with two of the newer M.I.C. members so maybe it was some info I had from those talks back then. Here are the two interviews I did:

Baragon (June 2008):
http://www.ugrap.de/interview.php?id=197

Junclassic (February 2009):
http://www.ugrap.de/interview.php?id=214

M.I.C. interviews other people from our site did:

X-Ray (April 2003):
http://www.ugrap.de/interview.php?id=10

R.A.V.A.G.E. (February 2004):
http://www.ugrap.de/interview.php?id=15

Kong & Spiega interview (march 2006):
http://www.ugrap.de/interview.php?id=111

Kong (February 2008):

Tommy Gunn (August 2008, very short):

Gotcha. The reason I ask is because Lordwillin is Hustle Crowe, who posts on this forum...he has absolutely no affiliation with Monsta Island afaik, aside from maybe opening up for someone at a local show in RI.

This is he:
