Back to the great year of 1988 for the choice of BDP's classic second LP and follow up to the legendary Criminal Minded or The Jungle Brother's debut LP and the birth of the Native Tongues sound and style?

Choose one.

I JUST got back from a car ride bumping the JB's.. and was thinking it didn't hold up well for me.. It's aight but by any means is one of those pivotal albums for me.

The one that doesn't not have KRS-One.

So, BDP then.

Speaking as one from the minority, I'd say that BDP "rocks" more, JBs "funk" more. In this case, I go with funk. In addition I gotta say I've never been completely satisfied w/any BDP album.

Astute to the last.

Agreed. If I could combine the BDP and first two KRS albums, 'twould make me quite the happy camper.

I'll go with the Jbeez because of the importance value, imo, of the NT birth rite.

It's an unfair poll because By All Means Necessary is so much more popular that it will likely win by an extremely large margin even though the albums are pretty close in overall quality IMO. Voted BDP.

straight out the jungle is arguably the most ahead of its time album ever

BDP. Not even close enough to say more than that.

As a devout Ultramagnetic MC's slash Critical Beatdown fan, I take offense to this.

i said "arguably"

they are both right there in terms of being ahead of their times...i have no quarrel with someone who would go with CB...in fact most people would

but imo straight out the jungle is a much better album in terms of the listen and i look at it like most people look at CB because of that

Gotta go with the BDP album, which is #6 on my top 50 list. But JB's got a lot of play from me on those dubbed cassette tapes.

BDP but it's close.

Probably comes down to me disliking a few more songs on the JB's than BDP.
