LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out (Unedited)????

Post by chiefbombpro »

I went to revisit this the other day. As dope as I remembered it, only a couple of skippers. Only thing is while listening to my copy I realized that it is an edited version.
So here I am searching the net and all I can find are edited versions. Does anyone have this album unedited? Was it released unedited at all? Any info would be appreciated.

I was thinking the exact same thing the other day about another Def Jam album -> Public Enemy's Apocalypse '91 The Enemy Strikes Black. My copy is also edited. Did Def Jam release an explicit version of this PE album?

Mudfoot, a quick google search and you'll find that one.

I think the CDs all had the edited version of Boomin' System (could be wrong though). The only way to get that unedited is the 12". It also has a different opening. Were any other songs on that album edited? Maybe Farmers Blvd?

I have The Underground Mix of Boomin' System. I thought Cheesy Rat Blues was edited but, maybe that's how he did that one. Farmers has a "shit" edited out and the Jingling Remix has the radio version vocals from the original. Maybe that's the only version available.

being a kid with that tape upon it's release, i didn't realize the self-editing in cheesy rat blues, but after i listened to it again a few years ago, i noticed it.

The remix of Jingling Baby was always lile that. Looking to check my copy of the CD I found I have two copies. One has red lettering and one has white lettering. The CDs are the same though.

I'm ok with it as long as that's all there is out there.

I think this must have been something to do with Def Jam during that period as, if I recall correctly, the re-issue/repress of the EPMD Business As Usual CD albums were censored too (vinyl & cassettes were uncensored)
