It may be a silly question, but I do need to ask. Honestly I have never had to do it before because I tend to take good care of my ish, but unfortunately for me like a dumb~ass I have lent out a few records & am only gettin` them back now & the condition a few of `em are in just hurts my heart......LoL, fuckin` some sort of soda or some other sticky syrupy substance on a few of `em. Dude says he`ll pay for `em, but if I can get him to pay for `em & clean `em up it`s even better So my question is pretty simply what can I use to clean `em up without causing damage? Any suggestions will be much appreciated...

I remember about a month back hearing Easy Mo Bee speak in detail about his simple homemade remedy he uses to clean his used records to near new condition, check out the audio here:

I saw a cleaning kit just now at Turntable Lab, but if you can't buy the kit right now I recommend Mo Bee's technique at home:

if you don't want to go with the homemade route, just about any record store will sell cleaning solution, usually in a small spray bottle along with a soft cloth rag. i clean my records anytime i'm about to play them. i have a microfiber brush that i run along the record to collect dust and dirt. then i'll use the spray cleaner to wipe it down.

I don't know about soda, syrup and this kind of stuff, but I'm pretty sure you'll find this useful:
