Ready To Die

Post by chiefbombpro »

Recently I found my copy of Ready To Die was unplayable and I went out to replace it. So, I copped the remaster cause that's all I could find and didn't think there would be a difference. Wrong!
There are a few tweaks with some of the beats and this shit sounds foreign to me.

Anybody got a copy of the original pressing they can PM me?! Would be appreciated.

First thing I noticed was in between Gimme the Loot and Machine Gun Funk Big coughing up a lung is gone, then Machine Gun Funk is missing a sample in the chorus. Ready to Die is missing a sample in the chorus. And a few other little things.
The samples Machine Gun Funk and Ready To Die are what got me the most though.

The original had to taken off the shelves due to samples not cleared. Happened in 2006. So if you've bought a copy of this after that, you're unlucky.

OG version is definitely worth it. Has an alternate primo beat that just knocks

i always thought the '94 version of the title track was iller than the original sample with the main sample intact.. stripping that away made it knock harder, shit sounds much rougher. which one do y'all prefer?

the "Machine Gun Funk" remix by Premier has to be one of my all time favorite remixes

Is the OG version hosted anywhere else besides rapidshare and that mixtape site? All the mediafire links are dead. And thanks for these.
Kool Keith: I wore a straw hat with a feather to the last Source Awards. When I got to Madison Square Garden everybody was looking at me. When I got back home I seen everybody and their mother in their video wearing a fuckinג€™ straw hat with a feather in it.

Tim Dog: ג€œWhat Kool Keith gonna wear? Iג€™m gonna do that shit in my video. Iג€™m gonna wear that shit really quick. Whatג€™s Tim Dog gonna wear?ג€
