Freedom Troop 187 demo

Post by nobs »

one of my favorite demos i ever found. from 1992 (Bay Area) this group consisted of The Bishop, Hi-Lo (R.I.P.) and DJ Rob One. i found Rob residing in Queens, NY and he actually gave me 2 more demos which i added to the existing one. rumors of a track featuring Boots from the Coup and Del were thrown around but the tape was never located!!

if you're gonna make a demo i would at least make it a few cuts long. this clearly doesn't showcase as much as it should but it is still pretty cool for the time period.

WOW. I can't believe you have this.

I actually have a rip of the demo tape recorded by Cult of Isis, the group that Freedom Troop 187 would become. This tape has cuts with both Del and Boots (separately, not a joint/posse track-type thing). It rules.

I wonder if Gurped Out knows about this yet...

Might not be a bad idea to send DJ Robski the link to the ROBME post.

Ripped Open By Metal Explosions is actually one of the dopest (and probably underREAD) blogs ever. Luke Sick & Eons always posted a gang of dope demos and random 12-inches by cats like Phil Blunts, Nitrous Ox and Screwball. They also posted one of the best West Coast mixtapes ever made, DJ Apollo's West Coast Gangsta Funk. I made a thread about the blog some moons ago but seems like hardly anyone read it.

You (and anyone else who reads this thread) are highly advised to peep game.
