Soul Brother (Pete Rock/Grap Luva) Appreciation Thread

Post by Echo Leader »

I seem to remember a thread on here a while back that had a gang of Pete's remixes for the Future Flavas show. Can't find it though.

Does anybody have these remixes? I didn't grab 'em the first time around and I'd like to hear them.

:icedit: Turning this into a Grap/Pete appreesh sesh.

I've got Street Dreams, 1nce Again, Stick To Ya Gunz, Get Down by Monica, Put It On, P.L.O.Style, Whateva Man and Rotten Apple. I'm looking for a copy of Live To Regret by Busta Rhymes, Take You There (PR & CL) and Remember We by Bush Babees PR remixes. I look forward to seeing what people have if any.

A clear studio version(if there is such a thing) of "Stick To Ya Gunz" would be my most treasured MP3 ever!

Forgot about those, I still have my og copies on cassette. The Jay-Z one is digitized and up at cratesofjr now, Pete played it one time during a show where Akinyele was a guest.

No worries! Thanks, Step.

Honestly, we should just turn this into a Pete Rock appreciation thread...

Ran through a couple of FF shows I'd ripped but all I got so far was this Grap Luva remix of Jungle Brothers 'How Ya Want It' which is kinda dope (sound quality aside)

http://www.divshare.com/download/21400182-c42

Not Pete Rock mixes, but Future Flavas related are these 2 unreleased Marley Marl remixes of Canibus '2nd Round KO' and LL's 'The Ripper Strikes Back'

no prob. honestly, i've been pretty out of sorts myself with the filehosts. i was messing with sharebeast but then they stopped me from uploading anything over 10MB without paying a premium. i've just been using the mirror sites but i don't have an account or storage, its just temporary.
if you find the next best dependable filehost, let me know.

Divshare seems to be pretty reliable right now. Been re-upping all my dead blog links on there and nothings been taken down yet as far as I know.
In hindsight it was having an account with Mediafire that fucked me up as they could shut down everything I uploaded in one fell swoop.

As an alternative filehost, I mentioned soundowl.com on here before. I've been through many filehosts and I find that to be the easiest to manage files and there doesn't seem to be a limit for uploads. You can upload music in 2 clicks and right click/save to download music in one click.

^^ ??

That remix is decent, the xylophone or whatever sample that comes in during the hook and a few other times is the same as "It's Rare" by Wisdom(Adagio/Juggaknots related): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4oDfKc1iQ4

Grap Luva gives Sylvia Rone the middle finger and gives his honest opinions of Puffy's impact in Hip Hop among other good discussion topics about music and life. Nice Mecca and The Soul Brother and Heavy D stories as well.

Dope! Thanks for the heads up. Here's the video of the Grap Luva interview...

And this unreleased InI joint featuring Deda Baby Pa is one of the very first songs InI recorded together back in '92. Why the hell would Pete Rock never release this??? *shaking head* The song is fuckin amazing!! Here's a radio rip of the full song from Tim Westwood's Capital Rap Show back in April 1992.
