I am still thinking hard on this but I would put this King Tee album in my list, this is an album I often go back to.

Image

It was just an ill blend of West Coast and East Coast Hip Hop and the production was dope as fuck especially "Duck", "Dippin" and "Freestyle Ghetto", "3 Strikes Ya Out" (which also made me wonder how Ultra would have sounded over that hardcore TR Love beat)...King-Tee sounded like he had something to prove on this album.

I feel like this is definitely TROY canon.

I would not classify the follow-up, Still Standing, as such and it is very nearly as good as Soul Food.

Most of the choices have been from the 90's, so i'll keep it like that, although there is no restriction for post-2000 albums.

My top 10 non-canonical álbum list:

1 - Snoman-The exceptional one (1993)
2 - Da Criminal - Crooked system (1996)
3 - K-Squad - Realmz of da bushez (1994)
4 - Elusive - Deceiving the right eye of confusion (1998)
5 - Psychoward-WWW.Psychoward.Com (1997)
6 - Blak Forest-You are now entering the blak forest (1997)
7 - Onry Ozzborn - Knighingale (1997)
8 - AWOL - Detroit 4 life (1994)
9 - Lastrawze-Instrawmental (1995)
10 - Major Stress-Against the wall (1997)

What are your thoughts?

ScholarWenis, what's good? Could you upload the Circle of Natives "Against all odds", Kukoo da Baga Bonez "Da grustler" (i thought they only had the 2002 "Insane psycho home" release), Midnight Voices "Late night at the upper room", Chill Rob G. "Blackgold" and Myalansky "Drastic measurez"? If your interested in any of those choices i mentioned, i'll do the same. I would appreciate it.

no problem - that 1994 blog had a notice saying it might switch to 'private only' soon, so probably best to grab those first...

that Nga Style album is very nice, first half especially. will up that at some point.

So I found this old thread and started going through adding the stuff on Spotify that I haven't heard and realized that roughly 50% of it if not more isn't in their catalog.

Dunno if Mic Geronimo's The Natural is too popular for this? I'd add Pop Da Brown Hornet's Underground Emperor - it's quite a consistent LP. Maybe AZ's Pieces of A Man. O.C.'s Jewelz although that's definitely very popular.

I always dug Darkleaf 'cause they were out there even by Project Blowed standards. Their songs were like recitations of the Egyptian Book of the Dead through the lens of a Good Life session. The subject matter gets kinda tired but Jahli's beats - especially on Kimetic Principles I and II - are wicked sick, guy.

Just for shitz 'n gigglez here are those two Kimetic Principles albums (which are imho far doper than Fuck the People) for anyone who's interested:

Darkleaf - Kimetic Principles I + II

Word, props for that. I kind of prefer "Fuck The People" to those 2 albums because of the extra gritty sound, but I think their Zero EP was above everything. Have you read the new interview with Jahli online? It has a TON of information from the group's history:

altho i would rate kurious slightly higher than "mildly entertaining" i basically agree with this and there is no better example of it than the head to head match-up on 'what's the real' where causal goes off and kurious is being kurious

sidenote: Dynamics Plus is the reason i met atoms fam (from his radio show)... known him since 94-95... still talk to him pretty regularly and he'll be geeked to be on this list
