For the Wild Style Debuts in Japan strip, one of the panels is an homage to Wolverine:

In my estimation these [first] five books [for Fantagraphics] will probably finish around the time of Scott La Rock’s death, maybe a little bit after.
And Amazon just emailed me saying: “Estimated arrival date: December 11, 2013 - December 13, 2013”.

Guessin' everybody who ordered one initially has got theirs by now. What does everybody think? Volume two is done and should be out around the fall of next year.

Ed's Tumblr has some insight into some of the inspirations, from Frank Miller to Jim Steranko to Dick Tracy's Rogues' Gallery, as well as rough sketches of other possible considerations for the front image and the breakdown of the cover he went with in the end.

How many volumes will there be? Im thinking about order the first 2 volumes, But it would be better to wait until its complete and order them all in the same order to save shipping costs!

that will probably be a long time tho, like years, since part 2 isn't scheduled for another 9 months from now and this first one took a while to drop. Definitely worth copping though, imo.

Got started on this last night. Not a massive comic book fan myself, but this is something I can get down with. Love it so far and looking forward to the next installments. Props to Big Sleep.

Fantagraphics signed him to a five book deal and they are happy with his work, he's talked about doing five, one book a year, especially since his last comic, Wizzywig, about hacker subculture was five books and he thinks that this is the better comic of the two. So it sounds like at least five, hopefully more. Code name for Volume 3: Roxanne Creates a Def Jam (according Ed's Twitter). Volume 2 is due out sometime in the fall of next year, so starting in September:

Glad to hear it. Ed seems well aware that this is going to get some comic book fans interested in rap history as well as get hip hop heads to read a comic book, there's something there for both demographics. I appreciate that he incorporates tributes to other comic panels as a form of sampling.

Apparently he's actually signed up for six books and is now beginning to tackle more films, such as: Style Wars, Breakin' 'N' Enterin', Graffiti Rock, Beat Street and Breakin', to name a few.
