(`'·.¸ The Ultimate List Of Hiphop Radio Shows ¸.·'´)
I used to have the illest list of all kinds of Hiphop Radio Shows that play real Hiphop from all over the world in the early-mid 2000’s. Anywayz, time to spark this list back up so we have an ultimate list for 2014. Please add any Hiphop Radio Shows that you know of from your area or anywhere else in the world. And I don’t know about any of you, but I grew up on Hiphop Radio Shows and have been listenin to them for all of my life since I was a teenager. Nice list Wicked, thanks for sharing. In addition to Sirius, think Bambaaataa still has his show on a station in my neighborhood as well at http://www.whcr.org. Some of them are uploaded to YouTube in their entirety.

Re: (`'·.¸ The Ultimate List Of Hiphop Radio Shows ¸.·'´)
I'm always glad to hear Soupkitchen Exclusives Radio at Podomatic, it's spun by Top Cat who was an original member of Gangstarr.
De La Souls Dugout by Maseo from De La.
Venz & Jiggy Djé from The Netherlands are on iTunes podcasts and Lijn5.com. They've had Alchemist, Raekwon and Heltah Skeltah as guests all on separate occasions.
DJ Toshi Classic Storm Radio (Podomatic)
No Ideas Original Radio, one of my favorite shows of recent is when F.T. and Smoke of God Sunz visited for an interview and freestyle.

Thanks man. I'm gonna look into that. But yo, those other shows you just posted, like the Podomatic shit, are those all actual LIVE shows someone can tune into or are they just podcasts?fatboybrandon wrote:Nice list Wicked, thanks for sharing. Word. I had your show on there back then too. I remember sometimes tuning in on Saturday mornings when I woke up (3 hour time difference). Too bad radio shows aren't what they used to be and don't have nearly as much of an impact. It's kinda sad, but it is what it is.Philaflava wrote:Those lists you had 10 years ago were classic.
If you don't mind me askin, what happened??? And why don't you miss doin it?step son wrote:I've stopped doing it for now. My last show was Dec 29th and at the moment I can't say I miss doing it.
Re: (`'·.¸ The Ultimate List Of Hiphop Radio Shows ¸.·'´)
I'd done it for 2 years and started feeling like I was putting more into it than I was getting out of it - being on FM I had to hook up radio edits of everything, making them myself in some cases which is mad time consuming. Also there isnt loads of new stuff I like these days (even less that's radio playable - some are rendered unlistenable after an edit) and I didnt want to be playing old tracks every time.WiCkEd22 wrote:If you don't mind me askin, what happened??? Add to that the fact I'm not as enthusiastic about DJing for other people as I used to be and I decided to take a break from it. I'd rather just record a mix in my bedroom every so often and upload that.
The point you made about radio not having as much impact as it used to is on point though. They an access any type of music 24-7 so there isnt that reliance on the radio anymore. If they are going to listen to check for a show they seem to prefer doing it at their own convenience once its on soundcloud or mixcloud rather than listening in live.
I think if I was doing it 10-15 years ago I'd have enjoyed it alot more, plus there's the age thing to take into account - I'm 36 this year.
I could go on for ages really.

Re: (`'·.¸ The Ultimate List Of Hiphop Radio Shows ¸.·'´)
I understand. Even I'm sometimes, actually a lot of times in the last couple of years, just whatever about my radio show as well. I too would have been a lot more happy about it 10-15 years ago. And you're totally right about the listening live thing... most people just wanna listen at their convenience, which is understandable cuz that's the world we live in now, but yeah... *shrugs*step son wrote:I'd done it for 2 years and started feeling like I was putting more into it than I was getting out of it - being on FM I had to hook up radio edits of everything, making them myself in some cases which is mad time consuming. I too totally just prefer makin a mix here at home in my studio room and then uploading it. I will say though, the radio show is nice cuz for me it's like a 2 or 3 hour mixtape. Remember, I do College Radio so there's no commercials AND since my show is on at 10pm, I don't have to worry about clean versions.
I also get the age thing. I turn 40 in May, not to mention I'm havin my first kid in April. I still have a lot of energy, but I do get lazy a lot more then I used to. haha I assume some of that comes from the fact I'm a regular weed smoker since I was 24.

Re: (`'·.¸ The Ultimate List Of Hiphop Radio Shows ¸.·'´)
I occasionally miss it, but not because of what we played or the guests we had on, but because of the fun we'd have making it or with the random callers who called in.
Re: (`'·.¸ The Ultimate List Of Hiphop Radio Shows ¸.·'´)
I enjoyed it while I was doing it for the most part - there's always nights you dont wanna be there though.
It was cool having artists send you music, drops and just generally connecting with people. Had some doap guest mixes courtesy of 7L, A To The L and more and got to play records that rarely (if ever) get spun on UK radio these days.
Things like putting younger listeners onto classics was cool - I had some kid call up for a track ID when I was playing 'CREAM', which sounds ridiculous until you realise its 20 years old now.
I think 2 years was a good enough run to do what I wanted to do though. Only thing I'd change is that I wish I couldve found a decent co-host rather than doing it solo.

Re: (`'·.¸ The Ultimate List Of Hiphop Radio Shows ¸.·'´)
I'm pretty sure they all are live except maybe the DJ Toshi one, I wasn't aware of whether or not the shows had to be live. I haven't kept track of whether or not a radio show is live in years, it just doesn't matter to me any more unless it's a special event like Eclipse's Halftime anniversary. The reason I use technology the way I do today to compile music is to save time in my life and podcast recordings play a huge role in achieving that goal.WiCkEd22 wrote:Thanks man. another favorite show I thought of is the Home Diggin show from Germany, they broadcast live around 5PM EST and play Hip Hop, Soul, Funk Jazz and samples. My favorite of their interviews so far is IceRocks from DXA.

Ill behaviour Radio show can be heard on Base FM 107.3 every Thursday 10pm til Midnight in New Zealand. They recently interviewed Ox aka Johnshaft from Sputnik Brown, that was a great show.

If you like sample-driven sets, Sundays Noon-3PM EST, local Bill Skillz spins some fire on Vassar College Radio. Worth checking out - http://www.wvkr.org/.
