Nature and Nore - Magic and Bird OG RNS circa 15 years old...I highly advise you to include that one, since the punk who made the Queens Classics used this mp3. LOL motherfuckers ain't shit no more...(and we don't want doctored mp3s PRESSED to cd to mp3 again do we?) Also included A, Mill - Get Your Groove On, but saw that "im" already got you on that one.

They "doctored" the rns mp3. The vinyl noises are exactly at the same time spots. NP

Here's the blend I was doing with Foxy's Promise. I just removed Havoc's verse and replaced it with Nas to make it more Firm-like.
I was able to piece together a decent instrumental loop by splicing 3 or 4 different parts from the song (took awhile).

WOW - big thx for the Friend Of Ours...the rip the net provided might be better if you correct the pitch to the right speed...but yeah, no .wav for editing...like I stated before E-Money Bags gets mentioned by Foxy on firm stuff, so I see no reason to cut him out.

I prefer this version. good blend though

Here's another one. I replaced E Moneybags verse with one from Nas. I also fixed some of the panning issues in the audio from the bootleg vinyl rip.

Mill tagged the a ca you used for the shootouts blend. hehe
E-Money still on the hook on the other. Nice work though. Still, you should leave E-Money in there.

a. dude was a hitman
b. dude had respect for the music (Trag told him that he took him off Calm Down because his verse was wack. E supposedly replied: "No doubt.")
c. mentioned by Foxy on Firm shit
d. he got killed - so that verse on Friend Of Ours ll honor him
e. the Nas verse you used is weak - I actually prefer E-Money's verse

Werner also "hated" on that:" Who you gon call? Toastbusters!."

haha just like Trag, I'm takin him off cuz he's wack. I'd rather listen to the Nas verse than E-Moneys. I left his chorus on because he introduces Nature.
But I knew some of you might prefer the original, so that's why I gave you the download link for it. You can just replace my refix on the compilation with the original.

Yeah, but Nas talks about imaginary bullshit while E-Money kinda hints at his profession. Do you though, but for real the Nas you used is trash.

Thanks to everyone, was an amazin thread

Filth, if by chance you got the time and will, and could hit us up with one or two last blends over the Partnas Confused and Avoir le pouvoir instrumentals, that'd be great but thanks anyway for the effort and dedication put in there

I tried already, but nothing was matching up well. I pretty much used all of the Firm-related acapellas from that rough time period (~2 yrs or so) that spoke about crime etc.....so the blends for this project are all done.

From the Complex article on the making of 'It Was Written'

“AFFIRMATIVE ACTION” f/ AZ, FOXY BROWN, AND CORMEGA
Produced by: Trackmasters and Dave Atkinson

Nas: AZ was my man and he told me about Foxy Brown; drove me to Brooklyn to meet her at her house. I wanted to put the Firm together and she fit perfectly. It was the first song we recorded together.

Tone: Nas always wanted to get his crew together; he’d been calling it The Firm for a minute. We had been trying different members out. We had 50 Cent in it for a little while. It just didn’t work out, though we made a record.

Poke: [The song with 50] came out on mixtapes and the whole cycle. It was 50, Nas, and Nature. Mary J. Blige was going to be a part of the Firm too at one time. She came in, we entertained it. She did a record with us and Nas that we put out with. Nore slipped in there, Mobb Deep. We made it a real Queens thing. That’s why we tried to put 50, because 50 was from Queens, as well.

Tone: Not to mention that we were trying to get 50 out there. [Laughs.]

Poke: We were trying to promote him, he was on our label, at the same time.

Nas: I saw the future being albums, tours, Firm athletic wear. We had all those meetings and shit. But the politics of this manager, that manager, this label, that label—it just got in the way of what I thought could’ve been huge.

"NAS MET FOXY AT THE STUDIO AND SHE JUST WAS IN LOVE WITH HIM." —STEVE STOUTE

Steve Stoute: Nas was so antisocial back then. Foxy was always coming around the studio. I had Tone, who had discovered her, sign her. Nas met Foxy at the studio and was just in love with him, but it’s not like they fucked or anything. She always looked up to him, was always in awe of him.

Tone: One of the producers that we had under us, Dave Atkinson, is one of those producers who likes to do records without samples but make them sound and feel like samples.

We took his track, started dirtying it up, making it as grungy as possible. Once we got that element, we played it for Nas and he was like, “This sounds like a Firm record. This is the kick-off joint.”

i read that whole article earlier this year, very informative

i got a Nas XXL mag from '99 and in it he said the firm was supposed to link back up around 2000 if everyone was with and doing it right!
instead we got the QB finest album.....we may need to retouch that 1 too!!

haha good catch Step. At first I was thinking I was gonna see him ripping off our version, but as I was reading his version is really different. I'm not a fan of the vibes of his compilation...sounds more like a mixtape comp rather than a Firm/mafia type of sound.

I wonder if the timing of his post is coincidence or not?
