Hi all,

some may be able to help me. I have talked at length with several guys who assume that the remix of Funky Lemonade is produced by Pete Rock but I can't find any mention anywhere. Everywhere, the beatnuts are credited. The thing is, the track sounds very Pete Rock to me, does anyone know more?

The remix by The Beatnuts does get misattributed to Pete Rock every once in a while.

Producer clearly says The Beatnuts:

Yes I know that, but this site for example mention Pete Rock as producer :

Other thing, in the track Act Like You Know same sample appear at 0'50, and the horns is the same on "the main ingredient" track, probably chance but must confusing too when you know how Pete Rock loved to re-use sample across his beats...

These are some very interesting observations MV.

Production is credited (see back cover) to the Beatnuts indeed but in a general, perhaps ambiguous form. I'm sure I've come across cases with both "produced by" and "remixed by" credits present, with the former referring to the original version while the latter to the actual remix.

My gut tells me this is a Beatnuts remix - it has that early Beatnuts bouncy character while Pete's work was more on the rolling side - even though the differences are subtle and I can't really put my finger on them.

I agree with you Architek. Finally it's probably a Beatnuts beat made with a Pete Rock inspiration, furthermore I think the kick and the snare and the pattern are the same on the track "Fluid".
