for me it's this jewel...

Image

I remember having the tape back in 91 and I thrashed it now that I found the album online, I keep going back to it, there is just something about it...the production was very raw east coast boom bap with lots of classic breaks and samples and the emcee had a thick flow and commanding voice too...dope just dope it was on Rap-A-Lot too.

^ I also had couple of days listenin' to the Onyx album over Xmas
a good winter album
perfect for layin' up in the crib, bein' stuck in traffic or before you go out to hit a bar.

Me
it's all about this :

I always dug Joe's knucklehead steez
and you got some vintage DITC production like "watch the sound", "livin' fat", "bad bad man", "fat gangsta" and my two favorites "you must be out of your fuckin' mind" and "i got this in a smash".

I'v only heard "jealous ones envy" and i thought it was hype. Is "represent" better?

^It's more rawer and has a definite NYC sound to it, the only thing that let Represent down somewhat was Joe's delivery which seemed at times awkward and forced...but as for the production...

you have The Beatnuts, Lord Finesse and Diamond D plus Mista Sinsta on the cuts.

Do me a favour and check that remix above.

hearing some of the production on 'represent' was cool. the beatnuts did a good job, plus you had some steller guest spots not many speak of.

Both "represent" and "jealous ones envy" are dope albums
but i'd say "j.o.e" is a little more consistent throughout..
some real ill cuts on there
"bronx tale", "success", "say word", "respect mine", "watch out", "part deux", "shit is real" DJ Premier remix, "bronx keeps creating it"
Diamond D and Domingo on most on the production.

Speakin' of "represent"
anyone know who dude with Joe in front on the Tony memorial TATS crew piece is?
it's not Armageddon, is it?
my guess would be the infamous Keith Nut.
