Liquid Swords Appreciation Thread

Post by Cyn0zure »

I'd think I'd go as far as saying this was my favorite Wu solo. Raekwon's is up there, but there's too many interludes for me. The interludes on gza's shit are all the classic kung fu stuff. As an emcee he struggles to make okay beats dope songs, but he really does his thing over dope tracks. Wu appearances are all dope. Plus B.I.B.L.E's a pretty hot song which introduced Killah Priest.

:?: :?: :?: :?: odd statement on soooo many levels...

acouple weeks ago i had the pleasure of smoking out of a friend of a friend's huge ass glass bong...and low and behold he put "liquid swords" on as the accompanying music.

can't surpass "only built 4 cuban linx", but that's just saying a whole lot about "OB4CL".

wu-tang forever...and ever and ever

liquid swizzles=in my top 15
cube linx=top 5

i know what kid is sayin...some of the beats are kinda weak...annoyingly loud and noisy...for me its the beats that drop this album well below cuban linx or ironman

the first 5 songs on this album are untouchable tho

I don't think there's a single beat on here that could ever be called "weak"
and i'd say it's far better album that the occasionally patchy "iron man"
although "iron man" is a great album with some of the best ever Wu tracks
- "daytona 500", "camay", "iron maiden" and "all i got is you" -
it was a disappointment after "ob4cl" and "liquid swords".

Only complaint i have about "liquid swords"
is "b.i.b.l.e"
i always hated that track
it didn't even deserve to be the bonus track
Killah Priest is terrible.

Yeah, B.I.B.L.E. was my friends favorite track off of the album and I always thought it was one of the worst.

i might catch shit for this but i don't give a fuck....I liked it when it first dropped but I didn't really bump it like I bumped "Cuban..." or even Dirty's album.....this was like my 3rd fvorite Wu album....and i wish that Ol' Dirty would have actually had a verse on "Duel Of the Iron Mic"

One of the first hip hop albums I ever got. Shit blew me away. Favorite track: Killa Hills 10304. "Do you have the cash? Twenty-thousand dollars?"

And Method Man's verse on Shadowboxin' is so damn smooth. "Industry party bum rushaaaa...."

When I said he struggles to make okay beats good I was referring to his other songs i.e. his shit on beneat the surface and legend of the liquid sword. As far as Liquid Swords, all the beats are on point. But like some of the shit on beneat the surface and legend of the liquid swords was ehhh because he's not the type of emcee who can make a blah beat listenable...thats all I was trying to get at

probably weaker beats than OB4CL, Ironman, and 36 Chambers--yes.

but hardly "okay beats." plus GZA is my favorite Wu MC, so regardless this is my second favorite Wu solo.

Cuban Linx is just slightly better for me, but both albums are relatively flawless.

B.I.B.L.E. is one of the best songs ever made, you guys are crazy. solid album all the way through, and that was a great way to end it. what the hell don't you like about this track?

I agree, I liked B.I.B.L.E. a lot, I mean it's a lot better than anything else Killah Priest has done IMO...some may argue it kind of takes away from the album since Gza's not even on it, but I still think it's a dope track and doesn't take away from the sequencing at all...

As far as Ironman, that's pretty hit or miss for me, it's got some big high's, but in terms of solo albums I'd probably put Supreme Clientele in front of it (hopefully this isn't too controversial of a comment)

I liked it at first, but to me it's the most generic sounding song on the album, therefore the most boring, therefore my least favorite.

I understand one not liking it, but how is it generic?

The most generic sounding. It's a track that could have been left off, is all I'm saying. It's nothing special, and it probably would have been one of the better songs off of Beneath The Surface, but it just didn't fit right for Liquid Swords.

I love this album and I actually was listening to it today on the way to school.
Shit is dope as hell and Shadowboxing is one of my favourite wu tang songs ever.
The cover art is probably my favourite of all wu tang shit too.
