Tony Bones

Post by Y@k Bollocks »

I really liked Tony Bones - what happened to him? I found it pretty bizarre that a guy from London (who was unknown in London) could go to NY and hook up with a label like Fondle Em'.

I heard him on the Juggaknots reissue but since the 12's he dropped late 90's time he kind of disappeared. Anyone know what happened to him? Does he still do shows or anything in NY?

The last thing I heard from Tony Bones was that joint with Mr.Live about Monica Lewinsky..

One night at Sob's I was out looking for cheese and I ran into this honey mo mo lewinsky..

Does anyone remember when they performed that live on Stretch and Bob and he kept fucking up his part and repeating it???

Shit was CLASSIC!! Stretch and Bob were doing his ad libs after the 5th time...

Didn't Big Kwam do the same thing??

Anyway, I'm a HUGE Tony Bones fan, it took me awhile to find everything this guy has done. I've heard all the shit he's done with Mr. Live (like 6 tracks!), plus some joints with Writers Guild and what not. Dude is a crazy lyricist and he NEEDS to drop something new, I'm literally fiending for some new material up in hea!!

I own everything from Tony Bones, Mr. Live and Big Kwam. Having said that, I miss the duo of Bones & Live.

What is "everything" from Mr.Live and Tony Bones (discography)..

Also, they did a song where they spit over the Nice N Smooth beat from "No Delayin".. Was that ever released? I only saw it live..

Tony Bones written freestyle classic :

On the hook of 'Luvamaxin'. He literally has a couple of lines. You go to Fat Beats a bit don't you? If you could ask Brewin what he's up to i'd owe you a big one (). I think he works for Arista or something as a designer.

And ScholarWenis, yeah - Big Kwan did do the exact same thing. As far as i know, neither of them dropped a record here, did a show here, anything.

Hes dope though. I would LOVE a Percee-P style CD comp of all the stuff he's done.

I have...

Tony Bones & Pharaoe Monch - Deep In Ya Bones
Mr. Live & Tony Bones - All Day
Mr. Live & Tony Bones - Placebo (The 88 Wassisname)
Mr. Live & Tony Bones - Splashin On Monica's Dress
Mr. Live & Tony Bones - Throw Ya Mitts
Geology ft. Ocean Aquanaut and Tony Bones - Tetsuo's Revenge

What else did he do?

Mr.Live & Tony Bones 'Hungerstrike'

Big Kwam dropped an E.P over here in 1998 (Creative Entertainment)
feat. 'Execution Expert', 'Verbalise', 'Timeless Pieces'
all tracks produced by The Creators

it's nice E.P

The track 'Verbalise' was remixed by Dj Spinna and is incredible
one of my all time favourite hip hop tracks

I remember reading in Rap Pages years ago
that Tony Bones had recorded a track with Rakim

Someone needs to ask Mr Bones about that one!

Mr. Live, Tony Bones & Prince Po - Hold Me Down (Mr. Live was known as "J-Live" on this song, I found that highly irregular.)

yes there were 2 j-lives back then... and word around NYC underground at the time is that they battled for the name

and as we can all see by the name changes... we know who won the battle

From what I read in a magazine back then.. They both had "similar names" and that J Live offered a battle to settle it, but the battle never happened..

I want to chill in a wigwam, listening to Big Kwam
with Godfather Don thoughts to slaughter the pawns

Kwam was dope, I'm surprised he never punched in though-while pun snorted his inhales, Kwam squeaked.

was Big Kwam originally from the UK? didn`t sound like one, i thought he maybe was just a US cat living in the UK or something. but, i used to confuse him a bit with another cat, Big Twan who did ''One Time For The Lyricist''. i think he released on UK labels as well, and had a Spinna remix heh..
