Anyone know a dancehall song that came out around '94-97 in which the beat changes in the middle of the song? First beat was fast tempo. And the second beat was slow and the artist would toast slow. I can't remember if the second beat had six million dollar man's bionic sound effects or not. There is no singing on this track just straight toasting. This song was on some drum n bass compilation that's all I know.

Hmm...

Maybe you are talking about this Cutty Ranks tune. The beat change is there (although the actual tempo stays the same) and the "six million"reference is present too.

Can anybody identify the name of the song on this mp3? (it's the first 54 seconds of the mp3....don't worry about the other 2 songs on the mp3)

here's a link to the audio sample....it's from a DJ Jazzy Jeff mixtape from the 90's
http://usershare.net/ktpf1j9k6m41

i know he's trini, cuz in the lyrics he says 'i am the roughest trinidadian in america'

thanks

I have asked a few reggae-Hip Hop, ragga mad fans, so we should get an answer soon, I know that track, but can't think who it is.

thanks Jaz! it's good to know that you've at least heard it, so maybe somebody out there can identify it. do you remember where you might have heard it? that might be a clue as to what i can search for next.
i've tried googling the lyrics, looking up trini reggae artists from the 90's etc, looking up the tracklisting of the Jazzy Jeff mixtape, and so far no luck.
i've even posted on trini websites lol. there was actually somebody else on this site who had originally asked for the ID (that's how i heard this song). but i couldn't find his post. i wonder if he found out who it is?

I am still asking people, something tells me it might be a Nubian Crackers or Kenny Dope type thing and I remember a friend having a 12" back in the days, I wonder if it's Spragga Benz or someone like that?

hmmm. i know it can't be Spragga Benz cuz he's Jamaican, and the artist is definitely saying he's Trinidadian. i'm also pretty sure it's not a Kenny Dope record, cuz i've pretty much heard every Kenny Dope 12", and i have all of his reggae ones.
it could very well be a Nubian Crackers (or a similar type of record) joint.
well, at least we know that it did come out on a 12 inch (and not a 7").
you don`t happen to recall anything about the sticker on the center of the vinyl, do you? color, logo, or anything? i might be able to recognize it.
Thanks for asking around.....i`m doing the same. this joint sounds crazy....love the flow he`s kickin in the beginning
